Event Preview: CARS X-1R Pro Cup Series
X-1R Lubricants 250 presented by Food Country USA
Kingsport Speedway – Kingsport, TN
Mooresville, NC 08/20/13: The X-1R Pro Cup Series will head to Kingsport Speedway for the 9th race of the season – but most importantly, the last race before the Championship Series begins. Last weekend at Anderson Motor Speedway JP Morgan battled hard against Pro Cup veterans Clay Rogers and Caleb Holman to take the checkered flag and drive to Edelbrock Victory Lane for the first time this season after winning seven times in 2012. This win gained him a few points in the standings, making him 53 points behind Rogers in second position. Rogers, however; may have the upper hand on competition going into Kingsport, having won at the “Concrete Jungle” earlier this season in the MAHLE 250. Youngster Gus Dean will also be one to watch as he heads to Kingsport Speedway having never finished worse than third in his two previous starts at the East Tennessee track.

TOP STORIES:
The Rookie Battle Heats Up: With just one race until the Championship Series begins, the rookie battle is down to the wire with just two points between AFR Rookie Standings leader Brady Boswell and Eric Gerchak. Although Reid Wilson is a whopping 291 points behind Boswell and Gerchak in third position, when points are reset at Orange County Speedway on September 14th he will still have a legitimate chance to sneak up on the leaders and make a run for rookie of the year.
The Pro Cup series visited Kingsport Speedway on May 17th of this year and the rookies faired well. Wilson led the rookies, finishing in fifth position, while Boswell and Gerchak finished in eighth and ninth position.
Could Gus Dean Win His First Pro Cup Race at Kingsport? In his second season with the X-1R Pro Cup Series, Dean is itching to drive to Edelbrock Victory Lane and he may just do that at Kingsport Speedway. Dean has raced at Kingsport in a Pro Cup car twice in the last two seasons, finishing third a year ago, and second in the series first trip there this season in May. If Dean were to drive to victory lane this weekend, he would be the youngest driver to win so far this season and break the streak of series veterans taking home the hardware.
X-1R and Food Country USA: The Pro Cup Series is proud to have X-1R not only as their series title sponsor, but as the primary sponsor of the race at Kingsport Speedway this weekend. X-1R is a manufacturer and distributor of lubricants for automobiles, race cars, go carts, boats, planes, and other high performance applications. X-1R Corporation was founded in Daytona Florida in 1989 with the mission of formulating and pioneering the next generation of scientifically proven and demonstrably superior lubrication products for use in the Motor Sports industry.
Since that time X-1R has continued to maintain the same high standards and also managed to broaden our product range to include award winning lubricants, fuel detergents, octane and cetane boosters and greases.
The series is also excited to have Food Country USA on board for the X-1R Lubricants 250 at Kingsport Speedway as the event presenting sponsor. Food Country USA is a locally owned community supermarket and strives to be the best supermarket with a hometown touch. Food Country USA’s goals are to provide excellent customer service and great deals in all of their departments. With general offices in Abingdon, Virginia, Food Country is rapidly growing to become one of the largest independently owned and operated grocery chains in the region. Food Country USA is also the primary sponsor of two time series winner this season, Caleb Holman. Holman will not only be competing in the Pro Cup Series event on Sunday, but he and his Henderson Motorsports team will be racing in Wednesday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at Bristol Motor Speedway.
