Mooresville, NC 8/12/14- This weekend’s (August 16th) rescheduled running of the X-1R Pro Cup Series Food Country USA 200 presented by KOMA Unwind & BT’s of Radford has quickly shaped up in a week’s time to be hands down the toughest race of the season amongst competitors vying for a race win. A combined 8 Pro Cup Series championships, 96 Pro Cup Series wins, 5 NASCAR Cup Series wins, and a total of 630 NASCAR starts amongst the top three series make up starting field of Saturday night’s race.

Those stats are amongst just the 14 drivers pre entered for the 200 lap race.

But despite the smaller field size you can’t question nor deny the quality of field expected at Motor Mile. In addition to the pre entered drivers from last week’s expected race date, such as Benny Gordon, JP Morgan, Reid Wilson, Brady Boswell, and championship points leader Caleb Holman; several returning faces have bolstered the talent level even more.

Clay Rogers, the defending series champion, makes his 2014 season debut not driving for his former Lamb & Robinson Racing team from a season ago, but another former team Rogers drove for in 2009 winning one of his five series championships in the process with. The Mooresville, North Carolina driver will pilot the #154 JCR3 Racing ride as a teammate to rookie driver Matt Craig, who had his best career finish of third in Radford earlier this season. Rogers’ ride will feature the throwback paint scheme that brought the combo an abundant amount of success over the years. The veteran and rookie combo is perfect plan for the JCR3 Racing organization, and should ones to watch Saturday night.

Former NASCAR Cup Series winner Jeremy Mayfield will also be in attendance for Saturday’s Food Country USA 200 after purchasing one of Tyler Young’s #02 machines, who has since moved onto the NASCAR Truck Series. While Mayfield may be new to the series the Pro Cup style cars are very similar to what the Owensboro, Kentucky driver piloted for years on the NASCAR circuit before the new generation car came to fruition. Look for Mayfield to be very competitive in his newly acquired ride.

Things get kicked off Saturday at 2pm with practice for Food Country USA 200 presented by KOMA Unwind. Following practice teams will show their speed at 6:30pm with MAHLE Pole Qualifying followed by the green flag on the final regular season race of 2014 at 7pm.

Despite the week long delay fans can still take advantage of the $20 per car load “Fan Appreciation” night at Motor Mile Speedway for this event Saturday night.
