I just read Emmett Hahn's interview in this months Sprint Car & Midget magazine. In the interview he mentions Ohsweken Speedway and potential ASCS National events.
And I quote...
SC&M:Last year you added the Western World,on top of the Knoxville 360 Nationals as significant events for the series.Do you anticipate any other new,big 360 events being developed over the next season or two
Emmett Hahn: We've talked to Ohsweken and,I'm not trying to press anybody, but that's another big race that would take care of our SOD group and Patriot group up there, where they would feel a lot more competative since they've raced there before. And,it would be nice to pick that race up."
Does this mean that Hahn wants the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals to become an ASCS race exclusively?
Does this mean that he wouldlike the track to host an ASCS National Tour event?
Or,would he prefer the ASCS Summer National event become larger?
The quote was a little cryptic to say the least...
Tommy,your thoughts please...
Sorry, can't help you on this one...
It would be hard for anyone - especially Emmett Hahn - to ignore what's going on up here though. 70-80 cars every year at the Canadian Nationals is noteworthy for sure...Also worth nothing that the last two Nationals winners were from Oklahoma, the De facto home of ASCS.
Except with really hardcore Sprint Car fans, guys like Travis Rilat and Gary Wright are relative unknowns in Ontario, but if they ever come to Ohsweken they will open a lot of eyes.
