NORTHERN SUMMER NATIONALS CONTINUE FRIDAY AT OHSWEKEN

By Tommy Goudge (August 16, 2012) – Another special event hits the track
at Ohsweken Speedway this Friday when Jones Brown Insurance presents the
third of four races in the Northern Summer Nationals Sprint Car series.
The Lighthouse Tattoos Thunder Stocks, HRW Automotive Mini Stocks, and
Pierced Parts Bombers will also be in action this Friday night, August
17 for round 11 of Friday Night Thunder.

NORTHERN SUMMER NATIONALS
The first two rounds of the Northern Summer Nationals Sprint Car series
took place on the June 22 and 23 weekend, with Friday racing at Ohsweken
Speedway, and Saturday at South Buxton Raceway. Three affiliated
sanctioning bodies are officially a part of the series, including
Ohsweken’s Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Car division, along with the
Southern Ontario Sprints club, and the Patriot Sprint Tour.

Jared Zimbardi of Salamanca, New York won the opening round of the
series at Ohsweken, while Montrose, New York's Justin Barger won the
following night at South Buxton. Barger leads the Northern Summer
Nationals points standings heading into this Friday's event, with
Zimbardi in second, trailing by just a single point. Burford's Jamie
Collard is third in the standings, just five points behind Zimbardi,
while Tecumseh, Michigan driver Dain Naida and Grimsby's Travis
Cunningham are tied for fourth, just one point behind Collard.

A total of 46 drivers have earned points so far in the Northern Summer
Nationals series, which is also the number of drivers which took part in
the opening round at Ohsweken on June 22, and another large field is
expected this Friday night.

The Northern Summer Nationals series will conclude at South Buxton
Raceway this Saturday, August 18. Any 360 Sprint Car which meets the
Northern Summer Nationals rulebook will be allowed to compete, and the
overall points champion of the 4 race Northern Summer Nationals
miniseries will be guaranteed a starting spot in the A-Feature at
September's Canadian Sprint Car Nationals.

LIGHTHOUSE TATTOOS THUNDER STOCKS
Jack Myers and Mike Thorne put on a great show as they raced for the win
in the most recent Thunder Stock feature, but Wyatt Van Wart continues
to lead the way in the championship chase. Van Wart holds a 19 point
lead over Myers, while Thorne is third, followed by the #5h team of
Devin Habiuk and Pete Reid, with Lee Winger holding the fifth spot.

HRW AUTOMOTIVE MINI STOCKS
Karl Sault got a big win in the Art Hill Memorial 42 earlier this month,
and now holds a healthy lead in the Mini Stock standings as he looks to
defend his 2011 championship. Mike Evers is now in the second spot,
followed by Steve Hess, Jason Lungaro, and Jeremy Hughes.

PIERCED PARTS BOMBERS
Max Chechalk saw his Bomber division points lead shrink again after the
most recent event, as Davey Boughton got the feature win, and cut the
gap between first and second to just 5 points. Dusty DeBoer, Kathi
Dickie, and Brady Longboat make up the remainder of the top five.

WoW What a weekend Friday 46 Sprints around 36 Thunder stocks and around 30 + Mini's Awesome Night of Racing ended around 11:40 home by 1:15 Thanks Ohsweken and Staff, And actually Saturday night at Buxton was not bad at all, 28 Sprints. Well Sprint car wise Forget the other racing and the Lack of Porta John's. Left after the Sprints with 3 features to go. Poor Kirk Hooker. The number 1 guy must have a Disability or a Major Hate On and should be slapped By Hooker in the heat as he got taken out. Can't wait till the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals $12,000 to win 80 + cars September 14th & 15th Should be Awesome as usual. If U don't have a ticket or R not going U will miss probably the best Weekend all year.
