HALDIMAND COUNTY NIGHT THIS FRIDAY AT OHSWEKEN SPEEDWAY!
by Tommy Goudge (August 10, 2011) - Ohsweken Speedway is ready for
another action-packed edition of Friday Night Thunder this week for
“Haldimand County Night” presented by Trailers by Jim Bray. All fans
with proof of residence in Haldimand County will be given 2 for 1
admission this Friday! Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Cars, Lighthouse
Tattoos Thunder Stocks, HRW Automotive Mini Stocks, and Pierced Parts
Bombers are all on the card, plus Vintage Cars, and a Double Flagpole Race.
CORR/PAK MERCHANDISING SPRINT CARS
Fenwick’s Jim Huppunen continues to lead the Sprint Car standings, but
his lead over “Tilbury Tornado” Kyle Patrick diminished last Friday when
Patrick won the feature and Huppunen finished 10th. Patrick now trails
by 31 points, followed by Burford driver Jamie Collard, Dave Dykstra of
Port Colborne, and South Dayton, New York's Kyle Moffit. Patrick's win
marked the 9th different winner in 10 Corr/Pak Sprint Car features held
so far this year, with Huppunen the only driver to repeat.
LIGHTHOUSE TATTOOS THUNDER STOCKS
Caledonia driver Mike Thorne took home yet another top 5 finish last
week, and now enjoys a 67 point lead over Ryan Dinning, another
Caledonia driver. Port Robinson's Devin Habiuk is 3rd in the standings,
followed by Chris Dickie of Branford, and Cambridge's Wyatt Van Wart.
HRW AUTOMOTIVE MINI STOCKS
Last week's "Art Hill Memorial 42" jumbled up the Mini Stock standings,
but Dundas driver Karl Sault still enjoys a solid lead at the top of the
list. Caledonia's Mike Evers is now 2nd in the standings, followed by
Cayuga driver Abel Castelein, who topped the very large field on Friday
night for a $1,000 payday. Brantford's Jake Brown had trouble on Friday
and has slipped back to 4th in the standings, followed by Ohsweken
driver Steve Hess.
PIERCED PARTS BOMBERS
Rodney Rutherford of Waterdown snapped Caledonia driver Jesse McDonald's
win streak last week, and continues to lead the Bomber standings.
McDonald is 2nd, followed by Hamilton's Jeremy May, Dundas driver Sarah
Rutherford, and Dunnville's Tyler Brock.
