Hmmmm..........it would appear that the "moderator" has found a forum for expounding on his opinions of the workings of NASCAR.......in a real world the moderator sticks to moderating.....not using this medium as a soap box to belittle the opinions of others..........Swervn OUT!

Everyone knows I'm a member here and as a fan can't I have my say? Belittling others you should start reading all that was said before you post.

If you don't like it you don't have to read it.

Start your own site and just moderate it. This site has human moderators that can interact on the site.

Wow who knew the issue of  9 Canadians trying to qualify for the Nationwide race would lead to an all out brawl on the start and park program sponsored by NASCAR.  I'm happy that Thomson and Steckly were paid $1000 for their efforts as the amount of work they go through to get to the track each week in and out on the Canadian Tire side deserves a better pay off.  Don't worry I'm not going to go off on the payout at the NCATS races since from what I've seen posted on the sites it appears that the payoffs are definitely getting better just not where it needs to be yet.

I fully agree with Evan on the issue of only starting 30 plus cars for an event instead of the field fillers.  I also understand it costs to rent equipment for the races but my question back is if they knew they were going to only run a couple of laps and then park did they really make $1000 since they would have had to pay off the cost of renting equipment?  And why didn't they come back out when cars retired after them as they would know how many laps they would need to run to gain that extra money minus the cost of running the rented equipment?

  If the issue is the field fillers then maybe we need to bring in the top 35 rule like the NASCAR Sprint Cup series for all series since that seems to have minimized the field filler situation??LOL

I said I thought some drivers just did it for the quick cash grab. Edited by me missunderstanding who paid the 1000.00

Then I went on to express my opinion why do they need fillers.

Do filler make the race better?? No they go for 2 laps and say something is wrong with the car when it is not. If everyone knows there are fillers why make up a problem with the car when they park after 2 or so laps? Makes no sense to me and many people have no clue about fillers and if everyone did there would be no need for them.

I'm not forcing my opinion on anyone. I'm trying to ask what is the big deal of having them are they needed and what for? As I stated before who does this benefit? The fans? No, They come to see all cars racing for a win.

The fillers yes they get cash for this and I have no beefs with that as if someone told me to be a filler and all I had to do was qualify and run to laps for a lot of money I would do it and you would be out of your mind to say no.

Now why does NASCAR do this? I know they want 43 cars to start and they have been doing this for a long time but why is it a huge deal? 39 cars can put on a great show?

I think I summed it up. I'm not attacking peoples opinion or drivers. I'm just curious to what the big deal is of having 5 or 7 less cars on the track and that is all.

I have No beefs with NASCAR and it they can do what they want just asking a simple question.

in the 50's they had over 43+ cars showing up to race and Darlinton and Daytona. Then later on it became 40 for for large tracks and 32 for small/short tracks mid 70 and 80's. Then Nascar made it 43 cars because of the championship provisional and this was for large and small/short tracks. This doesn't explain why fillers are needed and used?

Last weekend in Rockingham NASCAR had to work the phones and raise the minimum purse in order to ensure that there were 43 cars on the track. This lead to a few drivers who had no business being on the track taking the green flag along side of drivers who do.
As of the middle of last week there were only 38 drivers listed on the official entry list for the race. According to a persistent rumor, the TV contract stipulates that the race include a full field of 43 cars or there are financial penalties for NASCAR. This forced NASCAR to dig up a few drivers who just didn't have the resources to compete.

The most glaring example of this is 60 year-old grandfather of six Joe Ruttman. Joe hadn't entered a cup race in over ten years and his qualifying speed was over 11 mph slower than Ryan Newman's pole sitting pace. Ruttman apparently skipped both practice sessions on Saturday so as to avoid running up a tire bill.

In the race Joe Ruttman ran one lap and was parked by NASCAR because he failed to produce a pit crew! That's right, he showed up to the race, ran qualifying, skipped practice and ran one lap of the race completely without a crew. For his trouble Joe took home the 43rd place check for $54,196.

So did Fox get their money's worth out of him? Was he part of their show? His only contribution that I saw was that his name scrolled by on the top of the screen about 600 times: 43 Ruttman (Out).

I understand that NASCAR is in trouble but is it really worth it to drag out these embarrassments just to have 43 drivers take the green flag? I'd much rather see the best 36 drivers racing than to bring in people who clearly don't belong.
