Vilarino and Gabillon ready to take on Watkins Glen

The two NWES drivers got to know their K&N Pro Series cars and team in a test in Buffalo, NY

Blois, France - Ander Vilarino and Frederic Gabillon turned their first laps in the Troy Williams Racing cars they will drive in the K&N Pro Series East at Watkins Glen during a test on Wednesday at a short oval near Buffalo, NY, very close to the famous Niagara’s falls.

The two European drivers – first and second in the 2013 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series ELITE 1 division classification and currently involved in a very tight battle for the championship – got to know the 650 hp, 1500 Kg on the ⅜ mile of the Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex, working on driving position, performing a shakedown and meeting with the team members who have a great experience of the K&N Pro Series cars as well as the Watkins Glen track. Both drivers are ready to enter this great event and are very happy with their cars and the professionalism of the team selected by the Series organization.

“I was positively impressed by both the team and the cars, which are very well prepared. Troy Williams Racing has a long experience on road courses and is showing a strong will alongside with the NWES organization to put us in the best position to express our potential,” said Ander Vilarino, who raced in the UNOH Battle at the Beach in 2013 and is collecting his prize for his second consecutive Euro NASCAR title. “The competition will be very tough with guys like Austin Dillon, Andrew Ranger, Cameron Hayley, Daniel Suarez and Sergio Pena on track, but I believe Fred and I can battle for a good result”.

“The team is really good and the guys are very nice, they made a great job on the cars. I think we can do well,” added Frederic Gabillon, who won the last NWES regular season race at the Nurburgring, in Germany. “We worked mainly on driving position, because I’m tall and it felt a little bit strange to have the steering wheel quite near. The engine has more power but the car is a little heavier compared to our Euro NASCAR”.

This Thursday the two NWES drivers will receive their NASCAR K&N Pro Series license and their cars will go through technical inspection. Ander and Frederic will have some time to go to the NASCAR Nationwide and NASCAR Sprint Cup garages before a very busy friday begins tomorrow, with two 80-minutes practice sessions, followed by qualifying and the race !!

The Bully Hill 125 will be held on a 125 miles (200 km) distance, corresponding to 51 laps of the historic Watkins Glen road course. The already ultra-competitive entry-list of the race recently saw the addition of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Austin Dillon.

The green flag will wave at 00:15 CET (6:15 p.m. ET) and the race will be broadcasted on Fox Sports 1 on a delayed basis, on Sunday, August 17 at 15:00 CET (9 a.m. ET).
