BLOIS, France. Legendary Belgian motor sporting figure Marc Duez has been nominated as Euro-RACECAR NASCAR Touring Series Race Director.
In order to pursue its break-through on the European motor racing scene Euro-RACECAR has nominated a man who has all the experience it takes to judge the actions on the drivers on the track. “We’re very happy to welcome Marc to our team,” says Jérôme Galpin, the Euro-NASCAR general manager.
“He has racked up exceptional results, circuits and rallies combined. He discovered our cars during the Race of Champions and in the Spa 200 event in 2012 so it was difficult to find someone who had so many of the right qualifications for this job. We’re impatient to start working together as soon as possible.”
After a full career as a racing driver crowned by numerous titles and victories since 1977, 55-year-old Duez learned the ropes of the job of Race Director for more than 10 years in Monaco and Spa Formula 1 GP, endurance races (Spa 6 and 24 Hours) as well as the Race of Champions, and he accepted this new challenger with pleasure. “I’m delighted that Jérôme Galpin offered me this job,” said a very happy Duez.
“It’s a turning point in my career. I took part in a meeting last year and I was hooked straight away by the originality and the professionalism of the races. The drivers behave themselves and the overall level is very competitive. I’ll do my very best to satisfy everybody and see they respect the championship rules,” he summed up.
Yves Guillou, who’s been one of the stalwarts of the series right from the start, will still act as general coordinator and Jean-Marie Krempff will continue as chief steward.
