Euro-NASCAR arouses Italian enthusiasm!
TURIN, Italy – The announcement that the semi-finals of the Euro-Racecar NASCAR Touring
Series will be held on the legendary Monza circuit immediately aroused the interest of drivers
and teams in Italy! Two have already confirmed their entry and this good news received an extra
boost at the Turin Automotoracing Show between 8-10 February, where the look of the Euro-
NASCAR cars and the roar of their big V8 engines thrilled the many spectators present.
The Team FJ took advantage of the invitation of Pier Formini, the director of Green Goblin Motorsport
Management, and Francesco Terra, owner of the FTF Competizioni team, to put its cars on display at
the Turin Automotoracing Show and establish a platform to help people to get to know the Euro-
NASCAR Championship in Italy, which it will visit for the first time on 27-29 September 2013. This big
show devoted to racing is visited every year by team owners and drivers on the lookout for new
programs.
T-Engineering, managed by Massimo Di Lonardo, based in Cavour a few kilometers to the south of
Turin will enter two cars this season. “The Euro-NASCAR is a new series for us and we’re determined to
explore the opportunities offered by this new market,” says Di Lonardo. “We like the American approach
to motor racing and we’re in this for the long haul. We’ll use our first season to play ourselves in as a
team in the series and if the results start coming in on our debut, we’ll be delighted. Thanks to Jérôme
Galpin and his staff we’ve discovered an environment in which the aim is to move forward together: we
share this philosophy. Finally, we’re very excited about racing at Monza as I’ve no doubt that it’ll be a
huge success!”
Green Goblin Motorsport Management and FTF Competizioni, previously entered in the Formula
Renault 2.0 Championship, were both present and expressed their wish to enter two cars in the 2013
championship. “Francesco’s team has a lot of experience in single-seaters and is very keen on
promoting young drivers in these difficult economic times,” explains Formini. “We’re on the same
wavelength and we want to give youngsters who are out to make a career in motor racing new
openings. Thanks to the links between Team FJ and NASCAR in the USA these openings exist and the
budget is pretty reasonable. The Euro-NASCAR philosophy gives the drivers the opportunity to prove
their skills as they’re all placed on an equal footing, and that’s something that’s very important for us.”
“The cars are fantastic and on their first appearance in Italy they put on a great show and really whipped
up the spectators’ enthusiasm,” continues Terra. “Jérôme Galpin is a very positive guy and he’s always
full of new ideas! Euro-NASCAR offers an excellent compromise between the budgets demanded and
the visibility for the drivers and their career opportunities.” The FTF team is installed near Milan so the
Monza event is a home race for this new association.
The drivers’ interest was palpable and announcements will be made in the near future. “I knew that
motor sport was firmly ingrained in the heart of the Italians and this show was the perfect illustration,”
smiles Galpin, the Euro-NASCAR General Manager. “We made a lot of interesting contacts and the
Italians are a dynamic enthusiastic people. I’d like to thank Pier Formini and Francesco Terra for their
invitation. I’m now certain that in the future we can build up something really worthwhile on this side of
the Alps!”
