Eddie Cheever III and CAAL Racing going for The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series Championship

Todi (PG) - CAAL Racing and Eddie Cheever III announced today that they will enter together the 2015 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series season with the declared goal to go for the Championship. After an incredibly positive debut season in the European NASCAR Series, in which they won three races, the Junior "Jerome Sarran" Trophy, the race And Win Pole Award and ended up third in points, Cheever III and the Canneori-family-owned team will keep working together to make one more logical step forward, chasing the NWES title.

"We came short by very little last year and I'm determined to try again with everything I have," said the Rome-native driver, who in December received in Charlotte the Rookie Of The Year Award during the NASCAR Night Of Champions Touring Awards. "With one more year of experience under our belt, both me and the team are much more conscious of our potential and we know that if we avoid problems in the first part of the season, we can definitely go for the title. The car is even better than how it was during the Le Mans Finals, so we are going to aim for the win straight from Valencia."

During the winter, Cheever already had the chance to get back behind the wheel of the #51 Chevrolet SS at the Autodromo dell'Umbria - the track hosting the NASCAR Whelen Semi Finals in September - for a test session that highlighted strong progresses in the car's setup, confirmed by a race pace already quicker than the one that granted the Italian driver a win in the Sunday Race last year.

"Renewing our contract with Eddie means giving an important continuity to the work we did last season. We will be able to exploit all the experience we made in 2014 to aim for the title. For now we only had one test session in which Eddie could evaluate the progresses we mad during the winter, but before Valencia we'll test again," said Luca Canneori, team manager of CAAL Racing, who will count also on a stronger-than-ever Nicolò Rocca. "At the moment we can count on a pair of very strong drivers and in the next few days we plan to announce the complete ELITE 1 lineup".

The engine of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series cars will start roaring once again on April 25-26 in Valencia, Spain, for the second edition of the Valencia American Fest.
