A real NASCAR season!

BLOIS, France – To enhance its status as the official European NASCAR series, the 2013 EURO-RACECAR calendar has been tailored to offer the same mix of challenges as its American cousin. From a short-track oval to more traditional circuits, the 2013 EURO-RACECAR NASCAR Touring Series promises to put on a show rich in action and intensity watched by more than 200,000 spectators in the stands.

2013 Calendar

31 March : Nogaro 1 (France)
1 April: Nogaro 2 (France)
11 May: Dijon 1 (France)
12 May: Dijon 2 (France)
8 June: Brands Hatch 1 (Great Britain)
9 June: Brands Hatch 2 (Great Britain)
6 July: Tours Speedway 1 (France)
7 July: Tours Speedway 2 (France)
1 September: Motorland Aragon (Spain) Standalone endurance challenge event
28 September: Semi-Finals - Monza 1 (Italy)
29 September: Semi-Finals - Monza 2 (Italy)
12 October: Finals - Le Mans 1 (France)
13 October: Finals - Le Mans 2 (France)

In planning its 2013 calendar, the EURO-RACECAR NASCAR Touring Series has sought to mirror its North American counterpart by challenging drivers on three different styles of circuit: short-track, intermediate and high-speed. The latter includes both new additions to the schedule: Dijon (France) and Monza (Italy). The French circuit was included on the calendar in 2009 and 2010 and sees drivers tackle a high-speed course comparable with iconic American track Watkins Glen. Monza meanwhile ranks among Europe’s most historic venues. For 90 years the Milanese autodrome has been regarded as the ultimate cauldron of speed and will provide the V8-powered EURO-RACECAR with a chance to display its ultimate power.

The two short-track events should prove to be intense affairs. In early June the series travels to the Brands HatchIndy circuit (Great Britain) which will provide the perfect backdrop for a weekend dedicated to American motorsport, with EURO-RACECAR providing the main attraction. Tours Speedway (France) hosts its second event in early July and can now be regarded as the series' answer to the Daytona 500. This unique European oval race, which during last year's maiden running more than fulfilled its promise, will include a new layout aimed at increasing the margin of error and ramping up the intensity of this spectacular event.

In keeping with tradition, French venues will open and close the season in the shape of Nogaro and Le Mans respectively. The former, which is officially titled Circuit Paul Armagnac, represents the perfect opportunity to capture public imagination in the Gers region over Easter weekend. An equally passionate crowd are certain to attend Le Mans, with the historic venue once again hosting the series’ Finals where the Elite and Open Division champions will be crowned.

In 2013 the EURO-RACECAR NASCAR Touring Series will adopt a new format for the Elite and Open classes while also introducing an Endurance Challenge. This sees a 6-hour race contested at Spanish venue Motorland Aragón (1 September) which will not count towards the championship standings. Further details of the Spanish event will be revealed in due course.
