THOROLD, Ontario (July 2) – If you love trucks – you will love Merrittville Speedway July 11th!

Modern Corporation’s 7th Annual Trucker Show ‘N Shine Night at the Thorold DIRT-sanctioned oval will fill the grandstand area with trucks of all kinds before they take to the track for the annual Show and Shine Competition that is voted on by the fans.

Peterbilt … Kenworth … Freightliner … Mack … Sterling … International … Western Star – you’ve got to have a favorite! Or maybe it’s the paint and the chrome … or just a cool horn!

“It always makes for an awesome night,” relates (Merrittville GM) Erica Bicknell, “some of the finest looking trucks around … you’ve got to salute them,” relates GM Erica Bicknell, “ the trucks work during the week in some of the worst conditions … but they take pride in their trucks to keep them looking so good … especially when they come to the track.”

Racing and the Trucking Industry seem to go hand in hand as many drivers, officials and fans are involved in both.

Modern Corporation’s Night will also find Entry forms for the Monday August 3rd Big Block Grand Marshall Search available once again when you purchase your grandstand tickets.

In and amongst the big rigs somewhere will be the Modern Corporation Team cars of Shawn Sliter and Jamie Gilbert. Look for the #71 and #53 Modern Corporation Open Wheel Lite cars on display and in action on the track.

Last season in conjunction with the Niagara Region’s Green Bin re-launch, Modern Corporation and Merrittville Speedway invited race fans to join the race to reduce waste.

That program took a big step over the winter months with the announcement that Modern Corporation had become the title sponsor of the Open Wheel Lite Division.

“We’re real excited about Modern’s new commitment to the Open Wheel Lites,” reveals (Merrittville GM) Erica Bicknell, adding “their increased involvement will benefit our race teams while promoting the values of environmental preservation … we can’t wait to go green!”

Since 1964, Modern Corporation has worked to enhance the quality of the environment and well being of the community by providing recycling, commercial and residential waste removal, landfill, industrial cleaning, sanitation and environmental services to commercial, industrial and municipal customers.

Modern Corporation is committed to the safe handling, effective reclamation and environmentally friendly disposal of a wide variety of waste products and uses state of the art technology to achieve its goals.

“With much help from Modern Corporations Commercial Operations Manager Etienne Paradis and his Bride Fran,” comments (Modern Corporation Canadian GM) Craig Warden, “we are pleased and excited about our renewed and enhanced relationship with Merrittville … thanks for allowing us the opportunity to reach more fans with this great program.”

Modern Corporation believes that preserving the environment should be a priority for every home and business and through it’s involvement at Merrittville Speedway – invites everyone to join the race to reduce, reuse and recycle.
