Thorold, Ontario (June 10) – In the rush to beat the weather last week – the Meridian Credit Union Family Autograph Night – the highlight of Semenuk’s Esso Night at Merrittville Speedway will now join SMS Machine Tools Night Saturday June 12th at the Thorold DIRTcar sanctioned facility.

“Racing at Merrittville is quite a spectacle … when the green flags are flying and when we host our Family Autograph Nights,” relates (Merrittville GM) Erica Bicknell, “for the life long fan or the new one – seeing the front-stretch filled with race cars is quite a sight … it was just unfortunate that we had to put it off by a week.”

In what is unique about racing and at the grass roots level in particular – Race Car Drivers are very approachable and enjoy meeting their fans and Merrittville’s talented field is no exception. Race fans will be let out onto the track through the Start-Finish Line Gate for autographs and photos and the motorsports meet and greet.

“When it comes to meeting race fans … the professionalism of our Race Teams is second to none,” adds Bicknell, “there isn’t one that doesn’t have their own cards to sign or some other item … they are all so proud of their cars and their sponsors.”

When the Meridian Credit Union Family Autograph Night takes to the track – Merrittville Speedway will orchestrate it’s set up right on the front-stretch to include your favorite drivers from all Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Divisions including the L. St. Amand Enterprises 358 Modifieds, Original Pizza Logs DIRTcar Sportsman, Hoosier Stocks, J&S Heating and Air Conditioning Modified Lites and the Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinders.

Similar to being renamed this season as the J&S Heating Modified Lites in 2010 - the Stars North Tour has also undergone a make over this season as the Modified Lite Championship Tour that will feature a pair of events at Merrittville Speedway as well as the Humberstone and Ohsweken race tracks.

The 2010 Edition kicked off at Ohsweken May 21st with Paul Klager taking the win. 10 days later at Humberstone … it was Klager once again out front. From Merrittville’s June 12th 25 lap event – the next round takes to the track at Ohsweken Friday July 31st.

“Before the rain-delayed Autograph Night joined SMS Night … it was shaping up to be quite an event,” predicted Bicknell, “now the on track racing and the on track meet and greet – it’s making for quite an entertaining combination!”
