Thorold, Ontario (June 24) If you have attended a Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Event any Saturday Night at Merrittville Speedway, you may have heard talk of kart racing and the part it has played in the Thorold track’s rich 58 year history.

Current Divisional Point Leaders Larry Lampman and Chad Chevalier and have something in common with drivers like Leslie, Lampman, Miller, Wood, Wutzke, Bicknell, D’Ilario, Chevalier, Friesen, Williamson, Klager, Tallman, Mastroianni, Bleich, McPherson, Willard, Bowman, Braun, Small and Robbins.

Prior to Merrittville’s Tuesday Night infield track coming in to existence or since its exception … all of the above Saturday Night stars have a kart racing background.

Sunday July 5th’s Performance Manufacturing Slack Karts Burris Tire 50 Twenty-Five will feature the Tuesday Night Lucas Oil Kart Weekly Racing Series Drivers in addition to race teams from eastern Ontario and Central New York and beyond.

All seven Original Pizza Logs divisions will be in action – the Drummond Home Hardware Garden City Auto Complex Novice 1, KC Auto Parts Novice 2, RCM Racing Equipment Junior 1, Ed MacPherson Construction Junior 2, Superior PetroFuels Junior Restricted Heavy, Philbrick Farm & Garden Equipment Wilder Racing Engines Senior Animal and the Cassell Manufacturing Senior Flathead Divisions.

In 2009, the Merrittville Speedway Kart Club welcomes the following companies as presenters of the features – Lucas Oil, Cosco Haulage, Action Appraisal, Priestley Cut Tires and RCM Racing Equipment.

When the gates open at 3:00 – Grandstand Admission is free. A mandatory Driver Meeting will take place at 5:30 with heats beginning at 6:00.
