Watson takes first win

Brandon Watson looked very impressive in taking his first win at Kawartha Speedway. The Stayner young gun ran a great race, holding off track Champion Larry Jackson who dogged him for most of the race. Good to see after his early season woes. He could be a favorite in Ottawa tomorrow for the 100 lap KD/CCS series event.

Tonight was a night for the crash fans as there were some big wrecks in the heats, features and even practice. First a LLM ( didn't get the name ), his first night out, tagged an already spun Jamie Horner in practice and ended up on his roof. Saw him heading south on my way to the track and it was messy. Horner did race minus the front body work. There was also a big one in LM heat action. 5 of Moroney lost a tranny ( BIG TIME DISINTIGRATION ) and he collected the 85 of Powell and 7 Sinopoli. None of them continued. There were also alot of banging in the Thunders as many cars had to go pitside for repair during the feature. Finally the LLM feature had a bang-up of a finish. The 1 of Parsons tagged the inside wall pretty much head on at the checkers. He was OK but the car needs some major work to get back next weekend. Didn't see it but HEARD that he got together with 47 of Walters. 20 BRown won the feature.Again didn't see the mini or Thunder winner. Hope someone can help with that.

Car counts approx LM 16, LM 13, Thunder 17, Mini 20, Legend 18. The last three are guesses. BTW the 88 won the Legend.

As far as I have heard the 84 of Jackson, 81 Mercer, 9 Watson and 71 of McHattie are running CCS tomorrow. Did hear that 16 of Kimball was as well but didn't confirm that with them. The other 4 are for sure pending inclement weather.

The LLM crash in practice was #37 Reg Newton. He was a Thunder driver from years past. Was the first night out for him in a new LLM car. Sad thing was before practice he mention to me he was going to take it easy tonight and run at the back to get a feel for the new car. Didn't see the crash, but considering that statment and if it wasn't a mechanical failure, I couldn't see it being his fault.

Mayhew took Thunder. Was a battle between him and Reyns all night. 8 car with Jeff (not Jim) Remington hit the wall on his own in the semi, and contiuned with 2 unassisted spins in the feature.

In true Sinopoil family tradition, of not being able to control a race car, Joe spun it from the upper grove sidways to the lower goove on the restart after Remmington's spin ending #69 Martin Martin's night and #30's (me) front end.

The #2 Moroney car won the mini division.

I'd have loved to see the crashes on the front stretch but once again there was only seating in the corners. If the regular turn 1 seats were there it would have been one heck of a view for the racing down the front stretch.  Just doesn't make sense to not have the seats on the front as once you are over in corner 2 few if any in those seats go look at the special interest/classic cars.

the weather looks inclement for ccs . Radar at 9 am shows lots of rain just to the west and forecast is bad. I am just about to head that way but looks like I might just be doing plumbing at daughter's this weekend.
