agreed. And the OLG turned a lot of amateur horse owners into professional with large purses covered 84% by the slots. I was astounded to read recently that only 16% of the horse purse revenue was covered by actual betting on the race. The pro's are having a hard time realizing their hobby is no longer a career.
I remember when the speedway opened, I thought they were throwing the money around with a number of tire changing competitions that paid a grand to win.
Don't get me wrong, I love the facility, but just found it was too hard to get there on a Friday night and couldn't justify the $50.00 plus return toll on the 407 from Burlington.
Of the two remaining paved tracks in the Peterboro area, I'm interested to see if one will move to Friday, otherwise will they just continue limping along with really bad car counts

Sad. The nicest or one of in ontario. Flamboro should be the first to go no kawartha. That or varney.
