Hey guys, I'm a big follower of the Canadian Tire Series if you have seen my youtube channel im sure you can see i post Canadian Tire races on youtube.
I'm very interested in the history of CASCAR mainly because I'm too young to remember it.

Though I have several questions about the history of CASCAR there is one in particular that has had my head scratching.

My dad and uncle both went to the 1992 Daytona 500 and while they were down there they went to New Smyrna Speedway where they told me that they had a CASCAR race there that night, they told me that Doug Shakell won the race.
Is there any truth to this? I would find this very far fetched, if anyone can shed some light.

Yep. Cascar style cars used to run at new smyrna. One of my crew guys owned a car and tells of many speed weeks stories. Early 90's is when they went down there.

Was it an acutal Cascar sanctioned race? or did a bunch of guys who just had Cascars head down there to run?

Over the years many have been there, Steve Robblee was 1992 CASCAR champ
You can get some info from Wikipedia

The only CASCAR info Ive ever found on Wiki is the list of Champions.
Were these actual CASCAR events that counted towards the Championship?
