I haven't watched racing on TV in a few years now - I find Nascar to be quite boring nowadays & like al mentions, would much rather go to a local Friday or Saturday night track as I find that more interesting. This years Daytona lasted all of 12 laps for me & found myself falling asleep listening to the commentary & watching them go around single file. IMO, since the late 90's or early 2000's, Nascar has gone downhill & become boring, especially with these so-called COT's. I find that they are kind of ugly & don't really look like a race car anymore. I have better things to do with my time on the weekends that they show "racing" on TV & would much rather spend my time doing something worthwhile rather than being bored to sleep. Again, just my opinion & I'm sure others would rather watch it all on TV & don't agree with me. BTW, anyone else notice the Lilydale dude could have Mr Bean as a stand-in? LOL!

I would have to say Nascar racing on TV is boring, because Nascar racing in real life is boring. All these 2 and 1.5 mile tracks, that have no passing, no action and 1 yellow per race and combine that with the fact the winner either dominates (like Jimmie 'hairy like a sasquatch' johnson did this week or Carl 'my teeth look like tic tacs in my oversized head' Edwards did the week before) or gambles and wins by fuel milage, like good Ole Dale Jr, the no talent sell out.  I have not watched a nascar race, save for the two road courses, in two or more years. It is not entertainment, it is marketing.   Rirydale Chicken. At least have someone who does not butcher (no pun intended) the name of your heavily advertised nationally sold product. Do i trust him more because he's french? Oh yeah, nothing like a one minute commercial of Jeff Gordon doing 'this is my sports center'. Jeff Gordon has no idea what in the F TSN or Sports Centre is! Never mind he is actually racing and you could watch him if it wasn't for the shatty Canadian commercials! At least Rusty Wallace stopped talking about himself this year. Boogity, belts tight, gopher draft lock, Ol dw larry MAC And whats with all the chicks in the pits? Wendy Venturini is the only one who could identify a sway bar or track bar, and they stick her on the pre race on red haired stepchild SPEED.       NCTSPBSSROTSN (nascar canadian tire series presented by sirus sattilitte radio on TSN) blows on tv because the announcing sucks. Sorry Dave, and whoever else does that, but holy crap. The leaders are not the only show, and if the camera ever wanders there is always a pass or a wreck or something interesting, and there is sure to be no replay because they have 3 cameras, all focused on don thompson jr. How bout that todd guy in the pits? Maybe they should hire someone who has a basic grasp of race cars. All he ever says is "motor problems for -----, taking him out of the race. Or perhaps the old stand by, 'Terminal damage for----- and the #-- team. How bout the goof who does the ncts blurbs, and he's sitting in a suit and tie, in a chair all by himself in some TSN RACE CONTROL 'race shop' with air gun and air ratchet noises dubbed in? Did the producer actually approve that? He was satisfied with it's realism? It's like a grade 9 school project!

the commercialism in Nascar definately has to change or more peopl will tune out. I love to watch the races but the last couple of years you watch 15 laps of racing and then miss 7 laps for the commercials. Ir's completely riduclous. Maybe there should be something for Nascar on PPV. That way if you want to buy it then you don't have to watch the commercials. Either way they still make money. the Nascar hot pass on Expressvu is ok to watch during commercials when they let you watch it for free. But doesn't that cost like $200 a year? It's over priced.
I too remember watching older races and it was much better. Although I like old DW. they talk to much about nothing and the lives of the drivers. They should cut the pre race show down to like 15 minutes or something because i find myself getting bored and flipping channels till the race comes on. It's disgusting.
I hate the COT, I hate the chase. I believe that a championship should be won from a complete season and not just the final 10 races. So what if Joe Blow is 5oo points in front of 2nd with 10 races to go. He earned it so why can't he just cruise to a championship. Nascar has screwed up racing by this so called chase system
Don't even get me started with how they are doing the bud shootout next year. It's not even going to be pole winners because Coors is the sponsor of the pole now. They are going to have the top 6 cars in owner points of each manufacturer in the shootout. So if that race was tomorrow, we would see 2 Waltrip Toyotas in the race, Travis Kvapil and Joey Lagano, which I fell he doesn't belong in the damn race.
The Nascar name has become far too commercialised and maybe that is why it is hurting short tracks such as Barrie Speedway. It's all about money and not the show!

Cheater, +1 on everything in your post! 🙂

Gimme a early 90s TBird anyday - damn those race cars looked great.  That's why I bought a Super Coupe!

As for the tracks, it's a shame that tracks like Wilkesboro and Rockingham fell victim to the mega-cookie-cutters of today.

But honestly, I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.  Miserty loves company. 🙂

Can you imagine how much money Nascar tucked in its pocket for Tow Truck in a Box ??
Sure the TV got a cut, and more importantly and fitting- Scott " I like running up front" Steckly but they are spending a ton in advertising through Nascar's name.

Dude.  After last year... Hell every year Scott has raced. He deserves to win races, and contend for a championship.  One other thing, I've known Scott personally for about 6 years now, and I can tell you that he's a pretty decent guy.  So please don't diss the guy, he's not like Kyle Busch....
