South Buxton Raceway Saturday Night September 29th had 34Late Model Dirt cars from Ontario,Michigan,Ohio,Indiana and
Wisconsin attempted to qualify for 22 spots to win the win purse
of $5000.00 U.S. of the $20,000.00 (U.S.) Castrol Late Model Shootout.And race they did for the 4000 fans that were in attendence.First there was time trials and Andrew Reaume from
Blenheim Ontario won the time trial segment in 15.59 Seconds as 11 cars ran under 16.00 Seconds on the 3/8 mile D shaped track.Heat race winners were race #1 Andew Reaume, race #2 Rusty Schlenk ( Jackson Michigan ) race #3 Jayme Zidar (Greenfield Wisconsin ) In the B Main race Kirk Hooker,Chatham
Ontario won the 15 Lap last chance to qualify race with a big pass of 3 cars on the inside on lap 9 of the race.
In the 35 Lap Castrol Late Model Shootout race it was #4 Joe Fields ( Chatham Ontario) who led the first 20 laps until he was involved in an accident on the back stretch.On lap 21 #49 Brian Ruhlman ( Clarke Lake Michigan ) took the lead as was being closely followed by Rusty Schlenk & Jayme Zidar and the rest of the field.On lap 29 Schlenk made a big move on the front stretch
to pass Ruhlman and then led the rest of the way.Of the 22 cars that started 16 finished and 14 were on the lead lap.
