these cars i believe are already being recycled thru the busch east, nascar west, arca, hooters and possibly the mexican series.i fail to see the cost savings in making the teams go to this type of car when the demand is high and driving up the cost. on the otherhand this is a conservative(god i love that word) estimate of 200 cascar or sportsmen cascars in canada, lets use these wisely.

Oldbill... Don't kick a horse when its down, and that my friend is the worry of all that own the current NASCAT CTS cars. You want the truth... you cant handle the truth !! ( Just a line I liked from a movie)

Yes, The CTS cars we run currently, and I hope I don't give anyone a Heart attack, are More expensive to build then a Cup Car. I know that sounds funny but is true.
A Cup Chassis (COY) ( Car Of Yesterday), at the end of this year will be as cheap as a Hyundai with Chrome Wheels. All the money put into the current Cup Chassis will be water in the toilet and be flushed away with one quick swipe of the handle.
Don't think for a minute that the Cup Teams find this a good thing, as they are throwing money out the window at the end of this year faster then Billy Carter dumped his brew of choice- Billy Beer.

Think about this. Nascar introduces itself to Canada and announces a series.
Okay there in, so now its time to make changes.
Make a bunch of rule changes, and more rule changes, and more rule changes until they finally say..." You know guys- it would be cheaper for everyone just to sell there stuff and buy up Cup Cars".
Think back- The Cup guys are MAD about the C.O.T. as it is going to cost big bucks to turnover a fleet of Cup Cars in one season, although if NASCAR can find a home for the 'old cup cars' the burden of cost to upgrade to the COT will be much less dramtic on the Cup Teams.
In Short- Find a place to sell the old stuff and the new stuff will be built and raced.

Let's say that is the deal.
But hold on.... we could ship the old cup cars to the Busch Series, ARCA. Hooters and so on.
BIG PROBLEM- those series are so full of cars that current cars are being sent home because they don't make the show as it is because of car counts.
The last thing they need is more cars.

HOLD ON... Lets send them to Canada and Mexico... that will keep our Cup Teams happy !!

In this case I don't know which came first, the cart or the horse, but I do know that the pasture they came from looks like its covered in roses, at least for now. Lets just hope they don't cover our pastures in Lilly's and Stones that read... Once a Racing Series, now lies the remains of a battered mule !!

On the bright side, NASCAR has made a name for themselves North American wide and does not need the bad press that would come out of this so I would have to say for now, were safe as racers and the future should not change for a while.

Does anyone know where I can buy a new Buick Grand National ??
Oh I'm sorry, I forgot Buick got rid of one of there best selling cars of all time..
Case in point !!

If, hypothetically, the "old" cup cars are sold to Canadian racers in the NCTS. Are they kept as steel skinned cars ? Or do they get re-skinned to become fibre glass? If not, what happens with Novotny's deal to supply body panels? Just curious. There will be hundreds of Cup cars available in 2008.

It would be a HUGE mistake to take aways Tony's- Performance Fibreglass Body's- as they have become the number body is Stock Car racing across the world in my eye's.
Steel Body's are a thing of the past as the cost to maintain them is more then any team can afford, and the labour cost alone to hang the body's can be done based on a Tony Body- 1 day, versus a Steel Body-1 week.

Take the Steel off and scrap it... what you gain in scrap you can buy new from Tony.
This is a no Brainer that should NEVER be changed.

I personally asked Mike verlatti  and richard buck about our rules and how they would change in the next five years....they responded with "we want to keep the current rules for at least the next three years"  they went on with a few concerns  that included shocks brakes and transmissions.  they also said within the next three years they would look at the one piece composite body and a very affordable "spec" engine.  $25,000.00  for a complete engine assembly from pan to carb, distributor, msd boxes and headers.
now when our team switched our cars over we had to:  Cut the extraction holes(6 holes) in the driver door area, installed an interupt switch on the steering wheel, moved the fire bottle to the centre line of the car,  put the new monte body on the front end (which we found out later we didnt need to do)  the old monte body fits.  we also had to replace the window net to a sfi.  All gun drilled bolts had to be replaced with solid grade 8 bolts, as well as load bolts.
there are some things that cascar had us doiing for the last year that aligned us with nascars sfi specs and rules.  shifter boots, seat belts, crew equipment and fire bottles.  most of these things are safety...and as a driver I will never complain about spending money on safety!!!
catch the vibe everyone from the last two NCATS races, and nascar in canada....its frickin huge!!!!  good things will happen, this series isnt even 6 months old yet!!!!    #21  jason white  NCATS
