(and re the previous comments re Delaware-the walls there are still, I believe, Jersey Barriers and that lip at the bottom act as a launching ramp. Flamboro's poured walls are not 90 degrees to the racing surface and can mimic the same as a Jersey Barrier. They tend to put a car on it's side quite easily or worse.

honestly, if anyone flips on those barriers and someone dies, the onus is on the owner of the track because we all know there are better alternatives because we have been watching racing accidents for almost 100 years.
if i owned a track that had those barriers the first thing i'd do is get rid of them.
we know of a better, safer way so in my mind it is negligent on the part of the track to operate like that and the death should haunt them and they deserve it.

those jersy barriers are 1950's barrier technology and shouldn't be allowed but nobody complains until someone dies.

usename could the same argument not be made for safer barriers and Hans devices and if so where does one stop we may force alot of tracks out of business

Maybe someone who is more knowledgeable about fencing could check this out or back me up, But Barrie's fence is wrong, the safety cable is on the wrong side, and the actual fence is on the stands side of the posts, facing the crowd. Correct me if i am wrong, but wouldn't that fence just fall in if something serious got into it? Shouldnt the fench "catch" the car? From the looks of that fence, the car would just come up and knock the fence inwards, rather than use the poles for support and holding the fence up, there is nothing stopping it.

I believe it was early last year that a thunder car got up on the wall and into the fence going into turn 3 at Barrie. The fence worked exactly as needed to and after a delay for repairs and cleanup the show continued. The next week the fence section and posts had been replaced.
