Here's a message I just found in my mailbox, I manage my own email account and somehow it went south the same time I did, anyway ...

Perhaps this may clear up why the race cancellation between Flamboro & the OSS is taking place.

Flamboro Speedway and the OSS ON HOLD for 2008

The recent news put out by both Flamboro Speedway and the Ontario Sportsman Series web sites has many fans scratching their heads. On behalf of Flamboro Speedway and the OSS we would like to set the record straight.

It was planned and discussed at the end of the racing season in 2007 that the OSS and Flamboro Speedway had made a decision to run an event in 2008. Although the OSS type cars had not been to Flamboro Speedway ever,
it was considered to be a first and both John Casale of Flamboro Speedway and David Didero of the OSS were excited about the possibilities. After several negotiations, and continuous conversations, Didero and Casale came to an agreement and the OSS would make its debut at Flamboro Speedway.

In January of 2008, Flamboro Speedway held its yearly meeting with their home track series, and the Flamboro Teams made it clear that they wanted a full schedule, meaning bringing in travelling shows like the OSS would be a hard fit to the already full schedule that was in place for 2008.

It was at that time that John Casale and David Didero realized in order to run an OSS event at Flamboro Speedway it was going to have to be moved to a Sunday date, which both agreed upon with exceptions to their agreement.
The first exception would be to find a Sponsor to fund the event, the second would be to find another series that could fill the Sunday program, and if successful at meeting those requirements, an OSS event would take place in 2008 at Flamboro Speedway. A Sponsor was found at the time, but two weeks later the sponsor came upon bad times and was forced to back away from the program.
After one month of trying to solicit a Sponsor for the event, both Casale and Didero knew this was not going to be an easy task as the economy in the area was not as solid as it has been in the past, and finding the proceeds to run this event was going to take longer then expected.

Instead of cancelling the event at the last minute in the case where a sponsor couldn't be found, both Casale and Didero made the call to hold off for 2008 and look to a future event that would give them the proper amount of time to properly fulfill the needs, both in sponsorship and in fan awareness.

It is not uncommon these days to have Race Events cancelled at the last minute, regardless of any series or race track, and both Flamboro Speedway and the OSS felt they did not want to do that to their Loyal Fans and Race Teams, so instead agreed to step aside at this time.
Flamboro Speedway will continue to put on great shows every Saturday night and the OSS will replace the date on their schedule with another Race Track that has already requested them for that date.

Both the Ontario Sportsman Series and Flamboro Speedway hope that by giving everyone enough notice that this will not spoil plans for Fans and Race Teams, but instead provide them with courteous notice of the change of events.

That doesn't jive with "Flamboro Speedway was repeatedly approached by the traveling racing group who were looking for a date at Hamilton's 1/3 mile asphalt oval, but speedway management consistently declined.", now does it? One says they had something but backed out, one says nothing was in place at all. Maybe there's a reason why that never made it to Flamboro's site...

That release was by the OSS and Flamboro speedway had nothing to do with that release nor did they know it was released.

So saying on behalf of Flamboro speedway is just not right as they never were approached about this release.

There was no race schedule from what I was told from Flamboro Speedway and the reason they put the no OSS in 2008 release on there site as they saw the OSS schedule in ITMN recent issue and the OSS had them listed as one of the tracks they would be racing at and that wasn't true so they wanted to let people know the truth about there was no date every set for the OSS to come to Flamboro Speedway in 2008.

I'm not no reporter or affiliated with magazines but people send me emails and ask me to call them or they send me stuff to set the record straight but in this case I spoke to John about that release. So I know what he told me. The only to people that know the truth 100% is John & Dave.

I know if I was a series and tracks were canceling contracts as the OSS states I would want something from them for doing this.

Let me ad the message someone sent me of what the OSS posted on there site after they found out about the posting on the Flamboro site. then you have to look at the email people got from the OSS and wanted this to be posted on here as I didn't do it as it was in my trash mail folder and I had spoken to John at Flamboro and he had no knowledge of this sort of joint release as it did say on behalf of Flamboro Speedway in it.

Enough is enough of this which release from OSS is true or are they both false or is Flamboro trying to pull one over on us.

Here are Facts I Know.

Flamboro speedway reacted to the ITMN issue showing them on the OSS Schedule ( I spoke to John and I was told this is when it was done and a member mentioned that that might have been the reason as well and they where right)

On Flamboro Site

No OSS Race at Flamboro in 2008

No OSS Race at Flamboro in 2008

Recent announcements have incorrectly stated that Flamboro Speedway will be hosting the Ontario Sportsman Series this summer on August 23rd.  The speedway would like to clarify that this is not the case.

The racing schedule for August 23rd will feature the Late Models, Thunder Cars, Mini Stocks, F4 Modifieds and the Lucas Oil Canadian Vintage Modifieds.

Flamboro Speedway was repeatedly approached by the traveling racing group who were looking for a date at Hamilton's 1/3 mile asphalt oval, but speedway management consistently declined.  There will be no OSS race at Flamboro Speedway in 2008.

Flamboro Speedway continues to put its focus and energy into developing a strong and entertaining grass roots racing show, based on the three core divisions Late Model, Thunder Car and Mini Stock.

Recent announcements have incorrectly stated that Flamboro Speedway will be hosting the Ontario Sportsman Series this summer on August 23rd.  The speedway would like to clarify that this is not the case.

The next day OSS posted this on there site

Flamboro released from Schedule

Flamboro Speedway will not be part of the Ontario Sportsman Series Schedule this season.  The reason cited as differences in expectations between the Series and the Speedway.  "Although we had an agreement in place - we felt it best that we remove the date from our 2008 schedule" states Dave Didero.  "We are working with 3 other tracks currently to fill our labour day race as well as a late May date"

and then on the 28th I got an email that landed in my trash filter and I didn't post it and it was the one AutoAssembler posted today.

Now you can see all that was said and make up your own mind or opinion on who is telling the truth or not.

Here is mine and I might take shots for it but the first message was like the OSS was reacting to what Flamboro put on there website and OSS wanted to say it was Flamboro Speedway Canceled but then an official statement was sent out to people on February 28th in the morning. Which isn't even posted on the OSS site.

I read all releases and spoke to John from Flamboro and he said he knew nothing of the Official Statement by the OSS which said On behalf of Flamboro Speedway and the OSS we would like to set the record straight.

OK so don't you need both parties to set the record straight??? I know I would be made if someone said on behalf of Evan and I we would like to set the record straight and I had no knowledge of someone doing a release.

One release states they had a contract with Flamboro and then the next one says it was an agreement. Which sounded more like we will talk about this.

I was told that OSS had to find a sponsor but never came up with one and there was never a contract written up to say the OSS would be racing there in 2008. I guess if we could see a copy of this contract that would prove who is telling the truth.

What I have learned from all this Promoters / Track owners have a tough job and schedules get released without the ink on the contract. I think in the old days it must have been a hand shake and you knew you were OK to have a date with that track.

Just for the record though, Flamboro was the first to sign and John deserves a big pat on the back for stepping out of his normal way's of doing business. I look at Casale as being one of the most successful Track Promoters in this country and regardless of announcements, I can tell you it was John who was the first to sign a deal and date.

After reading this again I sure know who I believe!
