There was talk about the hobbies going v8 crates but it always gets turned down. I've heard you can buy a crate, or almost, for what some guys spend on the head alone on those 6's. The days when Jason Shaw, the Elliotts, and the bunch were battling were ahhhsum times. Off topic, sorry.
I have never seen either one of these series.
Some people may not like the Canadian Vintage Modifieds or the Can Am Midgets, but they are both travelling series that usually get a decent car count for the fans.
Evan, if you have never seen the CVM's then you have to see them. 😉
I grew up watching them, when they raced at Flamboro weekly, they were just called hobby cars back then, then later when Carling's sponsored them "the Red Cap Racer's". With the likes of Harry Nicholson, Freddy Poets, and Billy Lyons racing the features, it was every bit as exciting as the SLM's back then! Even back then and to this day, I'd say most of these cars should be in a show room instead of turning left. Back then a lot of the guys were running flat head V8's, but they had starting to switch over to inline 6's.
Autoassembler,
I'm guessing that my cousin ,John Hasselfelt, might have been running them back then. I see that he and older brother Gord are both in the CVM hall of fame. Gord used to take me to CNE when he ran hobby class there and the supers were the main show. Always remember sitting in the back of his 58 ford and doing the loop onto the 401 and passing carling breweries. I was a young lad then. Toronto telegram used to give discount coupons to get in. Can't believe I'll be 60 in 6 weeks. Used to hang around the garage at Don Collings's house in Milton where they worked on the 69 super driven by merv.
I saw my mail system trash and a so called OSS an official release On behalf of Flamboro Speedway and the OSS we would like to set the record straight. Don't see this on the Flamboro site.
I will not be posting the message hear or any info about the OSS and I don't want any users to post about them as I have had enough of the OSS and I really don't consider this news anymore and I don't want posts about them on here.
I know what you guys are thinking but we cover all series on here. I just don't have time to read mails sent to me people reporting other because of OSS posts and I just don't want to promote them and this my choice as I do run this site and enough is enough.
Sorry this is how I feel and I will not change my mind on this. I don't want my sites associated with them. Sorry I have to take a strong stance on this but I feel itis the best thing for our sites.
Both the CVM's and the Can Am Midgets are the greatest bunch of guys you will find anywhere and put on a great show. If you haven't seen either one, you have to get out to see.
The comparison to the OSS isn't very good however. Both series are guys racing for fun as a hobby. They do travel around to different tracks although both consider Flamboro as their home. They get little or no fee from the tracks they visit.
The only real touring asphalt series in S. Ontario is OSCAAR which somehow manages to survive each year against all odds.

I'm not trying to be annoying but... The above statement isn't reading right for me - - you received a press release from the OSS? From flamboro? You can't find the release on Flamboro's site? I'm very confused.
