After last weeks rainout the track got the opening nite underway.
#26 Willis Mahood won the minis in a Volvo. 33 cars in the pits.
#13 Brad Collison won in thunders. 25 cars in the pits.
#82 Jason Shaw won in late models. 18 cars in the pits.

Long delays on starting races and on re-starts with many laps under caution, a couple of top running thunders were pushed off the track because they ran out of gas in the feature. And when the cautions were displayed, a number of times they very late causing one crash and a few near misses.

Yes they did, around 17 cars. First heat had 6 cars had 4 cautions and other 2 heats were folllow the leader. I didnt stay for their feature but heard a backmarker blewup and the leader wasnt given the caution and slammed into him. Not sure if they use the track radios, which are useless most nights there anyways, drivers have said. The CVM'c continue to use the unreliable and expensive 6's and rumour is they can't seem to get the old guys of the club on board to look at crate engines which is a shame because the CVM's numbers will never grow without it. Gary Elliott has seen the value of the crate motor with his latemodel and has convinced them to atleast let someone test one, but that person cannot race it , only test, so they havent got a volunteer yet. I believe it was Gary's CVM with another driver that was the backmarker that blewup last nite.

Here is Gary and Dave Elliott's site with info on the CVM crash with pic of the aftermath and report on their rainout trip to Delaware.
If you like checking out old race pics, you can browse the site for pictures with stories of Gary and his friends and fellow competitors thru his 40 years of racing in demos, minis, CVM's (hobbies) and now latemodels.
It is probably one of the best driver's sites around.

I agree jcrashm2...Gary's site is awesome. Lots of great information and memories. David's site (www.davidelliottracing.com) also has some great CVM pictures from the 80s and 90s.
