honestly I don't know why I go back there other than it's 20 minutes from home. One hour and 45 minutes to do 75 laps was nuts. I can't remember if the longest green flag period was more than 8 or 10 laps.
Of the 18 cars, only outsiders were the Delly cars of Cox and Elliott. Cox got taken out on lap one! Jeff Ruddy, the Holland Pro Mod driver was back with his lm. The 05 blew while leading which took out the 44 of Laking whose car will need at least a new rear clip.
Paul Howse thought he finished third but was scored as losing a lap. He had been towed into the pits at least twice.
8pm start meant the angle of the sun was tough on drivers and spectators alike.
Left at 10pm after the feature and they still had the other three class features to run. We'd been there for four hrs and that was enough.
I'm afraid things will never improve there unless someone with some capital steps up and rebuilds the place (again-the rebuild a decade ago was such a disappointment) . There is no outside lane in the corners (for late models) and the double file restarts just don't work well when the outside guy knows he is going backwards.
I think if you look up the word "Masochist" in the dictionary, there is a picture of a Flamboro LM driver
The Minis went Green to Checker lol
It's the only hope for LM at Flamboro, to build a track very similar to Sunset, Lake Erie or Kalamazoo. Not too much bigger because the speeds will be incredible. Sunset drivers carry a ton of speed in to the corners and when it's a hot night, old tires come back to life.
Flamboro needs to act immediately. A new oval, and a new attitude, that might only come with someone leasing the track for 10 years, at least, or buying it. No one will invest unless they have a long term deal or own it.
New owners, or promoters would then bring more and bigger committed sponsors, market the place heavy for two years, make it a priority to give away 1000 tickets a night in different cities within a 50 mile radius, cross promotions with the Tiger Cats, build proper pits, tech building, concessions, VP boxes, (on top of the existing grand stands) a new score tower, a giant turn 2 or 3 screen, new spotters tower, a turn three VIP louge similar to the one in turn 1 now, and create a carnival atmosphere at this opportune race facility....and do it soon.
never going to happen!
