Shawn Chenoweth started the defense of his Late Model title with a win on opening nite at Flammy. 16 latemodels took the green including 74 plus yearold Al Bowman trying to be the first to win rookie of the year in all divisions. During part of the race #86 Ken Forth was leading but got bumped in the corner by #8 Paul Howse. The caution fell and both went tail. That gave the lead to #89 Chenoweth who went on to victory. Championship contender #82 Jason Shaw cut a tire earlier and pulled off and never returned.
