i have found that the crate engine has a little better low end torque that also helps you get off the corner better. watch a vehicle that has a built engine & see when he can get back on the throttle as compared to a crate. you will see that most drivers can acelerate a lot sooner with a crate than a built.
Being able to accelerate sooner is the result of a good handling car, not having more torque.
Or, perhaps you were just agreeing with me and I'm misinterpreting...was the first sentence meant to be an independent observation?
thevoice, what you said is 100% dead on, guys like howse, lyons, elliot all have exellent handling cars. If everyone went to the crate engine the races would be phenomenal.
i totally agree with the voice if the car does not handle properly all the horses in the world is not going to help you. just an observation that i noted when watching the races i felt that the crate engine was working a lot better than the built engine in the different divisions.
if the crates do have a rules advantage thats only because pretty much every track is wanting to switch over to crates only. the crates are a great thing and have allowed more cars to travel which is strengthening local racing in ontario. now if only delaware would put some money into fixing their track then maybe they would see as many cars coming from flamboro and kawartha as are going to those track from delaware.
some guys at delaware have run for 5 years witout touchin it in the off season.
