Also, what a p*ss poor showing by the CVMs numbers wise. Heard from a reliable source that they are going to permit the GM 602 crate V-8s in the cars next year due to the extreme cost of a racing 6 cylinder engine.

That is pretty bad, esp for Flamboro. There's been rumblings of the crate in the Hobbies for a while, but it looked like no one in the organization wanted them...messes with their visions of authenticity.

I only hope its true. Last I'd heard, they were on the fence about even allowing one or 2 guys to run crates as an experimant, and even then only if any drivers would pony up the bread for a crate motor knowing they wouldn't get any points. (or something like that.)

It is absolutely sad that the inline sixes are dying out, but if you can't get parts then you cant get parts. Hopefully a crate program will bring out all those coupes that have been mothballed over the last few years. And there's been a lot of them.

I say long live the hobbies, not matter what kind of motor they're running.

Maybe Gary36 can come on here and confirm or deny this news for certain.

In response to some other news, I feel a disturbance in the force about the car count for the LMs of Flamboro this year, and this last deal sounds easily like a 3rd of those were Delaware cars. I wish I had some insight to why this is or where they all went, but I'm at a loss. I've heard grumbling that "some guys aren't happy" but that's as involved an explanation as I've been given.

what I forgot to mention also was that absolutely brutal call on Anthony Simone during the second lm feature. He got a flat (either from contact with Kirk Hooker or perhaps a piece of Monaghan's brake rotor) and stopped in corner four. He limped the car into the pits and then came out with a replacement sneaker. He was then black flagged by track officials for bringing out a caution!!!
This was not a deliberate action and there is no way Anthony could have limped that car under green all the way down the front straight and thru the corners into the pits without being a huge road block.
Gary Elliot, on his website, was perplexed with this situation also. Maybe it is becoming more obvious why the car count was the poorest in years and why some of the regulars stayed home. Check out Gary's website for his perspective (his diary is in the message board/forum section)

To add to this...I was in the tower waiting for the LM payout along with simone and holmes, john came in and started yelling at simone for bringing out the caution on purpose. Simone stated that he had no other option because he almost hit the wall in 4 and stalled the car. Then all hell broke lose with Simone telling john exactly why he has low LM car counts and fans and that he should come and watch a Canadian tire series race to see how a show is run properly, and to make things more interesting a young kid comes in and starts yapping off at Simone and trying to fight him because he was arguing with Casele (must be his grandson) Great way to treat a driver from Canadian tire series who comes to race at your track.

With all of this LM bickering at Flamboro and the uncertainty of Kawartha could Joe Chisolm be talked into reigniting the ALSTAR series? Have a rule package that allows ACT spec, Delaware and Flammy cars to compete on an even keel. Much like those of the APC 300. I know Joe is busy as hell with Racetime radio but maybe he could help someone else and do some stuff behind the scenes. I don't think the timing could be any better to bring back the best LM series Ontario has seen. Shaw, Elliott, MacDonell, Sheridan, Robblee, Balson, Mercer, Howse, McHattie, Watson. The list goes on and on. Kennedy, Hooker, Morgan etc etc etc... 😉
