The only problem I see with this is what speed are they held at?
Please don't say pace car speed because the leader will always bog down  the rest of the field.
If you bog the cars down alot then you run into having to shift and that turns expensive.

well then maybe people will have to learn how to drive standard then huh ? 😛

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I believe this thread was suppose to be of some help to the new GM, but not sure if the hour or so it takes to read all some of these is in anyway helpful....LOL

One thing I would like to see changed is not the flagman but the way he starts a race.
At most tracks the flagman controls whether or not the race begins...at Delaware, the drivers seem to decide this...the yellow goes out on the back stretch and by turn three the drivers have already taken off and are at full speed by the time the get out of turn three.

He needs to hold back the green flag and only drop it when the drivers are 75 ft or so from the start/finish..

Saturday racing if possible when Friday is rained out. How many times was Saturday race ready this year after a rain out.  My not be possible but its a thought

We tried having restart lines about 4 years ago and holding pace speed. I recall now it caused lots of wrecks so it was done away with. Not the wrecks, we have no problems doing that.

Here is what all the racers now, the lead car sets the pace, he can go into 3&4 slow, or  picking up speed as they do now. We all as drivers know that and no one has said anything until this post. The real issue is the lead drivers that brake check before taking off, that's just crappy sports manship in most cases. Set a pace and go WOT as they come off 4, it works. Why do we need to change it?

In a couple of SS races this year, one or two drivers were restarting just past turn 3 and the other drivers weren't expecting it.  That didn't seem right to me.  If drivers could stick to what DB71 is saying, then there is no need to change.  Perhaps the restart "line" just needs to be more clearly articulated and then if someone does start too early, then the start is waived off.

Just my thoughts.

the drivers that weren't expecting it shouldn't have been sleeping on the restart lol i've always liked the "leader set the pace" style of restarts, fun to play a little game of cat and mouse every restart, but brake checks shouldn't be tolerated.

I can only speak for myself here, but when im starting pole, i look at the tach on the caution laps, and hold that rpm until the center of 3+4 then mat it when the green is shown. This creates a very smooth start, but unfortunately for me, it is predictable, and allows other drivers to get a jump. Also, the outside pole drivers tend to try and jump the start when you do this, which caused a few resatrs this year. Just my 2 cents.
