Visiting Drivers for the 4&6 Cylinder Bone Stock 75 in October

This list was partly posted in another thread, but I'm not certain that the drivers from the other speedways always head over to the Delaware boards to see what we're up to.I am currently promoting a Bone-Stock 4 & 6 cylinder race at the track which will run on October 15th. The format is similar to an old-school enduro event. Some four-cyinder drivers have been excited about the possibility of joining in the fun either with their existing equipment or a purpose-built car for the event.Studying the rulebooks for the four-cylinder classes around the province, I find there are more similarities than differences. Many are close to the Bone Stock spec, but have perhaps gotten away a bit with modifications to the setups of the cars. Here’s the general rules checklist to run your racing program against if you are an existing competitor from another track:Nicely formatted checklist, available on the event info page now:event info:goal here is to invite others to join the fun, without compromising the stock-nature of the event. Here is a text verision of the same list:To run this event I need a:- Have-Fun Attitude- Four or Six Cylinder Vehicle- 4-point Roll Cage- 5-point seatbelts- Proper SA 2005 helmet- Minimum Spec Fire SuitI cannot run this event with:- Engine modifications of any kind- Suspension Modifications of any kind- Fancy new tires.If I wish to run this race, I will have to return to stock setup.I can have a:- Front hoop, provided I do not install additional Bone Stock bumper bars.- For car numbers: I will not force you to repaint, but I do suggest getting a theme, or even covering your number with the name of your car. This is mainly for the fans.I understand that:- This event will be taking place on a full 1/2-mile speedway.- That there will be obstacle cars pre-placed on the track.- Vehicles that are disabled during the race will be removed, and may be replaced with an obstacle car.- It is not a demolition derby - - but sheet metal shall be bent.---Some Speedway Specifics (After you read that attached link):Sauble Speedway "Dacar" Type CarsAre legal for competition, double check to make sure your roll cage is indeed up to spec for bone stocks. Make sure your castor and camber are stock.Sauble Speedway Four Cylinder CarsAre legal for competition with minor notes. Setup on the car (castor / camber) must be returned to stock position, same with anything you might have done to the springs. If you have any kind of 'performance tires', please don't bring them. Standard street tires only. If you are running a front-hoop, you are permitted to do so, but are not permitted to add the additional 'defensive rub rails' used by the Bone Stocks.Flamboro Mini StocksMuch the same as the Sauble Four Cylinders, your cars are legal for competition with a few minor rollbacks. This includes returning your castor / camber to stock. Again, 'performance tires' should be left at home. If you are running a front-hoop, you are permitted to do so, but are not permitted to add the additional 'defensive rub rails' used by the Bone Stocks.Peterborough Four-FunMany of cars are legal for competition with modifications. One notable one is that your rulebook currently does not require a roll cage, but you will need one to run in this event. This investment will also improve your safety at your home-track. Remember to return your castor and camber back to stock, and ensure you are indeed in compliance with the no-performance tire rules. You are permitted to add defensive rub rails per the Bone Stock rulebook.Peterborough Enduro (4 & 6)Your cars are legal for competition, however like the four-funs your rulebook does not have detailed cage specs. You do need a roll cage to run this event, which will improve your safety at your home-track races as well. Also please return your castor and camber to stock. Same with the tires.Peterborough Mini-StockYour cars are legal for competition, with minor modifications. Your cage specs are correct, but note that if you have installed a front hoop, you are not permitted to run front bumper bars in addition to the hoop. Castor and camber must be returned to stock. Please leave racing wheels and tires at home.Varney Stock FourThe Stock-Four rules have a number of problematic issues for a stock series, mainly relating to the suspension on the cars. If a Varney Stock four car is hoping to participate, please contact me well in advance of the event.Varney EnduroCars themselves are legal but require safety upgrades to cage and seatbelts to be approved. Stock setup, stock wheels.Capital City Speedway Enduro (Ottawa)The 4 & 6 Cyl cars from this division would be legal for competition, with some safety updates. I see where the confusion may be in this. The majority of distributed rule books have the correct wording in that section, but the online .pdf left out the word "super charger". I will be replacing that .pdf with the proper version (the same one as the web, and that has been being distributed in print). My hope is that this has not caused too much confusion.

I think most understand that as well.

With regards to the multi-valve / multi-cam business, we're going to run the rulebook as she is. As I said to the person who e-mailed and asked me if a Mazda MX-6 would be legal for the event - - while it may be "legal" by the letter of the rules, it runs the risk of being designated as "overly-competitive" per the rulebook:

"These cars will be COMPLETELY stock. THEY ARE NOT FULL RACECARS OR SPEED MACHINES. If you wish to compete in full race competition, there are five other great divisions for that! Just because an item isn’t addressed in the rulebook does NOT mean that it is legal.

Steps will be taken to slow vehicles which are deemed "overly competitive" to even competition."

Moreover, would you truly want to run such a car against other vehicles which are of significantly less value? Keep your cars cheap & safe.

Bear this in mind when selecting your vehicle.

Let me know if this clarifies my position on this matter, or whether more information is required.

It should be a straight up race front whell drive rear whell drive invitational.
No Obstacles All tracks 4-6 cyl welcome.

All of this discussion and the thoughts you put forward may be valid, but are made under the presumption that this event was designed as a four cylinder invitational - - which is not correct.

The invitational guidelines were released only by request. Drivers from other tracks who were close to the spec indicated they wished to participate in this event, as advertised. They wanted to know what they would have to do to run: I told them, in very detailed terms. Some wish to run after reading through it, some do not. At least everyone is informed.

With regards to the event itself, I am unwavering in my commitment to the Bone Stocks as a viable entry level day which will be enjoyable for both competitors and fans. It is, in fact, the race of my childhood and apparently others too. E-mail after e-mail, conversation after conversation - - this is the event people are asking for and car by car, rulebook by rulebook we’re going to deliver.

The information that I have indicates that this event is on target to do precisely what it was created to do: bring new drivers into competition in safe, affordable vehicles. If you already have a car, this event was not targeted at you - - but should you wish to participate, we welcome you - - provided you follow the guidelines and understand the nature event. If it’s not Bone Stock, leave it at home and simply come enjoy the event as a spectator.

Chaos Car drivers have fought for four years now, and I’ve fought alongside them, to bring back affordable entry-level racing that will actually expand our community. The folks that get it, get it. The folks that do not, I will continue to try to explain to - - but if you’re trying to turn it into a straight up four-cylinder series like up north, that is not the void this program is trying to fill. If you have to ask why the rear-wheel drive mustangs are not permitted in the event, it is evident what I have not been clear enough on what I am working with the community to build.

The Delaware Speedway history project has taught me one thing: racing comes in cycles. Folks, we are at a turning point in a cycle - - and if history repeats itself, get ready to have your socks blown off, because the circus is coming to town.

lol very funny......
well good luck with that i can almost gaurantee you that any and all 4-6 cyl car invitational will draw a hell of alot more cars and fans.
oh wait its what you want right sorry john i must be mistaken and thinking the track may need a litle spicing up as in a little more classes of entertainment.
Lets not make a mistake its what you want John doesnt matter what everyone else thinks.....
Seems to me if this is the way of the enduros hell leave them as they are when circus freaks come to town eveyone clears out.
