sure jwo, but remember there's obstacle cars and everything too. I would presume this isn't being set up as a non contact race. These guys are gonna be running into each other.
Anyway, I was just thinking of lessening damage. It comes down the the same thing as chaos cars. If they're gonna go thru the trouble of getting a cage put in, might as well make them as resilient and strong as possible.
I think that's your only hitch with this deal....who wants to go to the trouble if the cars are basically considerd disposable?
im not sure why you guy are worried about the front hoop it ays you can run them without all the extra crash gaurds you could run without them
this is from one of johns posts
To run this event I need a:
- Have-Fun Attitude
- Four or Six Cylinder Vehicle
- 4-point Roll Cage
- 5-point seatbelts
- Proper SA 2005 helmet
- Minimum Spec Fire Suit
I cannot run this event with:
- Engine modifications of any kind
- Suspension Modifications of any kind
- Fancy new tires.
If I wish to run this race, I will have to return to stock setup.
I can have a:
- Front hoop, provided I do not install additional Bone Stock bumper bars.
- For car numbers: I will not force you to repaint, but I do suggest getting a theme, or even covering your number with the name of your car. This is mainly for the fans.
I understand that:
- This event will be taking place on a full 1/2-mile speedway.
- That there will be obstacle cars pre-placed on the track.
- Vehicles that are disabled during the race will be removed, and may be replaced with an obstacle car.
- It is not a demolition derby - - but sheet metal shall be bent.
You guys aren't understanding my point. When you gut the inner fenders and such from the car you are greatly deminishing the crash protection of the vehicle. Now factor in repeated contact and you end up with the same formula. FWD cars are much better at taking hits as they are engineered quite heavily to support the drive train. That being said the front hoop will help sustain longevity and an improved safety factor. Rear hoops are a huge benifit as the street cars are not normally built as tough as they predominately sustain frontal impacts. Hey i really don't care but I was just bringing to light what I felt was a misconception of front hoops.
....who wants to go to the trouble if the cars are basically considerd disposable?
The long running 'theory' behind the Bone Stock / Chaos platform is that the cars are disposable, but the safety equipment is not.
For example, a number of existing chaos cars have backup vehicles on their lot identical make / model to the ones they run. In the event that their vehicle is finished off in competition, they are able to simply remove all the safety equipment (cage, belts, seat etc, fire suits and helmets stay with the driver) and transfer it all into another cheap car and keep their fun rolling, without having another reinvestment.
so then....... are front and rear hoops allowed?
