Was quite busy tonight and didn't actually get to see most of the races...but here's a brief report anyway.
Good crowd tonight and a hot night of racing. Features for all 4 divisions and a very well recieved, and eventful, King of the Hill Race.
Paul Fothergill once again took the checkers in the Challenger Truck division, dominating the field quite handily.
In the Peterbilt Super Stock division, it was Chad Rijnen in the 2 car holding off Ray Morneau for the win.
Best race of the night was the Powerade Mods. Saw the last half, and Shipway, Watson, Newman, and Cox were welded together, bumper to bumper for the whole race. (in that order)
Shipway didn't seem to be quite as fast as the others, but damned if 2nd place Watson could get around him. Finally with a few laps to go, Watson gives Shipway the heave-ho in turn 2, spinning him around and taking the lead. But the black flag flew for Watson leaving Newman in the top spot. 2nd place to Cox.
Lindsay took control of the APC LM feature, while Pearn and Verhoeven battled for 2nd. I think Verhoeven prevailed to take second while Lindsay won the race. Present tonight were Steve and Matt Robblee in spiffy matching APC style Late Models #28 and #27x.
King of the Hill. I didn't get a winner, but one guy crashed hard into the turn 3 wall, and they weren't even racing....only coming around to line up for their race. Glad I'm not that guy!
matt robblee did not have an APC latemodel that was his sportsman car.
I stand corrected!
I didn't get that good a look. I just saw they were painted the same.
(Jeez and here I got Mobil1 all hot and bothered about a new two car APC team!)
Gary, if you're out there, I went down looking for ya, but missed once again. I got down pitside hoping to yack with some of the guys while the King of the Hill was going on....but the joke was on me, most of you had gone up top. (for some of them frosty golden soda pops...or something like that.) So we'll just catch you next time.
BTW, get any pictures of the 33 truck for us?
Had a chance to do some jawing with Duane Manning and proud papa Matt Lake though. I don't know if you guys all know it, but the Super Stock guys have gotta be about the friendliest bunch I know. Its always a pleasure to go down and hang around a bit. If you're new, bring your kids down afterwards to meet some of these guys!
In other news, Duane said he'd step down and let me drive the 28 car next week! (then they'll be off for 2 weeks while the BT guys get it fixed again.)
Least, I think thats what he said.
;D
And by the way, I'm heading up to Flamboro tonight (Sat) to catch some LM and Thundercar action. If you're up that way, look for the tie dye hat and come say howdy! (We'll get a few pics and maybe a mini report on how the Delaware guys fared.)
Bullseye Shadow !!! But I had to leave just as the king of the hill started though so try to catch me next week ! I should be there after the show for a bit. No pics yet but I'll try to get some 4 ya soon !!!
Heh...I was just looking at the official writeup on the night from the Delaware site. They give a rundown on the finishing order for the King of the Hill...the UN-official finishing order.
Anyone care to explain when or how the unofficial King of the Hill results become the OFFICIAL results? Are they waiting for the proper high-tech computer generated scoring results to come in, or is it just that the top 3 had to have their motors shipped out for inspection, and the results are still pending?
Inquiring minds want to know! 😉
