Over the last couple of years the truck count as dropped to almost half of what it was when I started the class 4 years ago.  Does anyone have any ideas why this is or what they could do to bring the numbers back up?  They're still a fan favourite up there with the supers stocks aren't they?

I think tire cost is a factor. I don't know why the trucks run on the same tire as the Super Stocks. The trucks are too heavy and the center of gravity on a truck is much, much higher. That causes the tire to roll over and come apart in the tread area. A Right Front only lasts 2-3 races if you're easy on it, then you gotta buy a new one.

Also, operating costs have gone through the roof. In order to be competitive, you must dish out large amounts of cash. Nobody wants to finish 7th or worse on a regular basis. You look at trucks like the 56, 16 or 55, they're top notch trucks, and they've worked hard to get to that level. But if you want to keep up with them right out of the gate, prepare to make sacrifices.

Trucks are no longer "entry-level".

On some level I agree but not all of that is true we ran 5 races on right sides and only changed left sides twice and we finished in the top 5 a far  amount from the middle of the season on ward  to my knowledge we only spent 2 thousand last yr. trucks need to brought back to entry level but not by changing the tire but by putting a inventory rule in effect. Also truck count has been lowered because in MY OPINION no body wants to race with the lose cannon of the 56!!! And others who don't respect there equipment and others. Trucks have come along way no different then the ss and enduros.

The truck racing was my favorite to whatch 3 years ago, the truck would be running 2+ wide the whole race, there might be some rubbing but people would just keep on trucking.
The changes last year really hurt me. Think it cost me 2k to change the rear gear and tranny last year. With a "beginner" class you can't make everyone majorly change their truck between years.
I dont see anything wrong with the tires, only bought 4 last year, but it was hard to keep up with people who buy 4 a week.
It is not expencive to "run" it is expencive to compete. The drivers have become very agressive and are destroying alot of equipment, no one seams to be out there to just have some fun.
Still think it is a good class, best option for "stock" car racing, we will not run out of truck like the old car used for supper stocks. Car count is down in all classes.

Exactly, 2 and 3 wide racing like the old enduro, was my favorite class, the track needs to bring back all truck night  ;D
