(Usually Tuesday Night Thunder, but its Thurs and that works too...so sue me.  ;D )

Howdy all!

Here's the lowdown on who were the top runners at Delaware this past Friday night. (I kinda like to think of it as the Molson 3 Stars on Hockey Night, except there's 10.)  All the picks are based purely on stats...primarily lap times, positions gained and race finishes, however I want to remind everyone that this is still basically an opinion piece and has no official sanction by Delaware Speedway or its officials. Nor does it have any bearing on official stats or points. All drivers are judged in relation to all other competitors on a given Friday night, regardless of division.

Feel free to discuss or add some kudos of your own!

And our Top 10 Delaware performers for the week of July 16th...drum roll please...

10
Devon Bloemendal. Delaware. Demar Aggregates Truck # 01

Always a stout performer in the truck division, Devon ran into some bad luck and a couple of bad situations in the first half of this season. But he's turning things around though for the last half. This week he can lay claim to something that not many can do this year, and that was passing Paul Fothergill fair and square to take the lead in the feature. Alas, it wasn't to last for long as an unfortunate caution bunched everyone back up again and Fothergill regained his lead. Devon ended up 4th, but also notched a heat win and some excellent lap times.

9
Steve Smith. Arkona. Super Stock #84

Steve is a repeat performer here in the top 10, and places 9th here. His finishes were nothing to write home about by their usual standards, (3rd in the heat and 8th in the feature) but they excelled in lap times and pos. gained. Write it off as a bad night finish wise, and I'm sure they'll be back up near the front next time out.

8
Jeff Showler. Mt Elgin. Demar Aggregates Truck #56

Jeff is another frontrunner that ran into some early season bad luck, but it looks like they've got it back on track now. They were in the thick of the excitement in the feature this past Friday night with an early 4 way battle with Fothergill, McCaw and Adraiensen - then later engaging in a furious battle with 75-Depuis, which Depuis ultimately won. They had to settle for 3rd in the feature, but its great to see the 56 team back in fighting trim!

7
Scott Lindsay. St Marys. Late Model #20

Coming off a heartbreaker at the Kyle Busch show when mechanical difficulties kept him out of most of the night's festivities, he turned it up for the next race night. Scott is always tough and managed to lead the first half of the feature, until it was wrested away from him by Jon Urlin and later Ron Sheridan. Had to settle for a pair of 3rds, but as always, his averages were excellent. Look for the 20 team to do some serious damage in Fri night's Triple Crown Twin 25s.

6
Kris Lawrence. London. Super Stock #28

This is Kris's year to rock so it seems, and the car and the driver seem to be melding together better than they ever have before. A second in the feature and a 4th in the heat, as well as excellent laps and +/- nets him the 6th spot in this week's rankings. Congrats to the BTRacing team again!

5
Rocket Ron Sheridan. Mt Brydges. Late Model 52

What can you say about Ron that hasn't already been said? The Rocket from Mt Brydges is always in the thick of things and our current points leader. He grabbed 2nd in the heat after coming close to being caught in a mishap with 22-Ramsay and 14-Emery, then had to run second to super quick part-timer Jon Urlin. Ron's principal rival Steve Robblee has been out of commission the past few weeks, but we understand he will be strapping back in this Friday, so the Rocket will have his hands full. I'm sure he's up for it!

4
Jordan Dupuis. LaSalle. Demar Aggregates Truck #75

Jordan sits 4th in the points right now and proved on Fri night that he can mix it up with the best the Truck Division has to offer. His rough and tumble see saw battle with Showler during the feature was one of the highlights of the evening. A perrenial top 5 truck, his best feature finish this year is 2nd. But they'll be back and ready to look for the win this Friday night. A feature win is entirely likely at least once this year.

3
Johnathan Urlin. London. Late Model #4

Haven't seen too much of Urlin this year, but he came in with a bang with his antics on the night of the Summer Showdown. Last Friday was Siskinds Law Firm night, so Johnathan graced us with his presence once more and to his credit did most of his work cleanly this time. He was strong in the early going and kept a very constant pressure on Lindsay before finally getting past at approx lap 20 and going on to win the feature. Excellent averages across the board nets him 3rd place here.

2
Jason Lidster. London. Super Stock #11

After having the feature win denied him last week due to a rough driving call, Lidster was bent on redeeming himself this time around and he certainly did just that. He took 1st in the feature, 2nd in the heat, and posted the best competition lap time all night in the SS division. He's 1st in points for SS thus far, but is only a single on-track bobble away from being overtaken by both Steve Smith and Kris Lawrence. The SS guys are off this week but the rest of the season is shaping up to be awfully interesting!

1
Paul Fothergill. London. Demar Aggregates Truck #33

This past week, Fothergill had some competition with Bloemendal that made everyone on the hill sit up and say "whoa...someone passed Paul?". He took the lead back soon after and went on to win the feature, not to mention and in reviewing the stats, Fothergill's third place heat finish kept him just a couple of points shy of being perfect for the evening. The boo-birds can say what they want (and they do) but this guy can wheel a race truck. Nuff said.
