well i have been to sauble speedway for the late model invitational for the past two years & there policy is if you spin a person out you get the black flag whether its your fault or not. maybe we should have the same policy here it would help to eliminate what we have just seen. if both cars go to the back every time it would make everybody think a little before you do something that maybe you shouldn't or wouldn"t normally do.
The bottom line is the 10 could have lifted, but didnt.... and the 72 could have held his line, but didnt. At the end of the day we have wrecked four cars on the back chute in the last 5 or 6 races and this stuff needs to stop!! As LMfan said we are hobby racers, if we cut each other some slack every now and then the fast cars should still make it to the front. Repeated blocking to try and hang on to a midpack position doesn't make much sense to me, but some guys keep doing it week in and week out. Its hard enough to pass out there without having to deal with a guy who is a couple tenths slower than you chopping you off lap after lap. This is going to be the outcome more often than not. Let him go, regroup, make some changes to your car and go get em next week, or in the FEATURE in this case.
On a side note..... When Lindsay wrecked in front of us down the back stretch last week he bounced off that inside wall so hard we got pelted with broken parts and pieces. So much so that we had a rear spring off his car wedged between the header and the steering column. Just a reminder why we use window nets and steel plate on our door bars.
Since this was a heat race in all probability they were racing for an inside spot over the outside for the feature where all the chips lie.The track is not good for attempting a 2 groove race especially in short heats, therefore gambles can go sour. I put the track itself to blame for some of the problems it could easily be in this case just saying.
Thats true Habits, they were racing for third weren't they. So that's inside second row. Opening night when they started this method of lining up the feature Jesse and I were side by each standing on the brake pedal coming to the checkers running second and third. We nearly wrecked down the back chute as well with Jesse trying to drop to the bottom and let me by for second. No one wants to finish in an even number spot in that first heat. As I suggested opening night they need to go to a random inversion of the heat finishes for the feature starting order. Pretty simple really, just have the winner of each heat roll a die in tech.
43 if you added 5 laps or ? to the heats may be another possibility to take the rush out of getting a preffered or protected spot. For the time it takes it might avoid early lenghthy cleanups and shorten the night.
