We had a similar circumstance during the 2009 season. The car was loose as a goose and Holdaway was right behind us at Peterborough. The car simply wouldn't stick to the lane we picked. Holdaway was a class act simply saw it as it was and didn't even try to pass us. It was a heat race. He simply knew it wasn't worth wrecking both of us. He could have easily dumped us and didn't.

Out west I was dumped at a wicked track that did have two lanes working. Like Jim, I suddenly had no power and just got creamed coming into a corner, and like all of us, 'round I went..'

The other team that took us out had the outside lane and simply couldn't react fast enough. My instant reaction was that I was dumped on purpose (like we all haven't had that feeling before), but shit happens...

The other team had enough respect to realize something was up, helped me fix my car for the feature and damned if I didn't finish side by side with him. Two things can happen, a war or new friends. Post race beers went a long way to realizing it's just a racing deal...

In a 50 lapped at capital city this year I was behind a guy that I was faster than (the car infront of us that took of I had passed him easly in both heats) that was chopping to the inside and it got pretty hairy every time I tried outside and he would chop me up there too. This went on for 30 laps or so, I'd get along side than he'd chop me and Id have to jump on the brakes and kill all momentum coming off. it seemed every time I got a good run inside coming off I'd get into a lapped car and there are nasty tall rumble strips on the inside that you can not hit. I never touched him, and finished behind him in 5th but had a 3rd place car easy.  after the race I talked to him and he was very smug and said he wasn't going to let me by at any cost. I still think about that race alot and Kick myself for not doing what should have been done. if I had to do it over I'd definatly move him no question about it.

Plus one Dan.  I had that happening with a guy at Sunset in 09 all the time, I finally had to drive through the grass and up his door, and take us both out.  I could not let it go on all year loosing points to Frank and Herb behind this toolbox....I ended getting the boot for the night for loosing it on him after he came back at me.  Lesson learned, but sometimes ya just cant hold it in anymore.  Frank called me a dummy lol.

I think he knew I had just blown a battle for the points.

Bakstreet I think you understand the respect and how no matter how hard you try to give it, there are some guys who will never give it back...
