The police wouldn't have the right to keep the car indefinitely would they??.

Because it is up to the police officers to determine whether they BELIEVE the car is built for a racing or street racing purpose.
Question:
What is the purpose of a modified street vehicle? To go fast? to go faster than the other guys modified street vehicle? Sounds a lot like racing to me and it does not belong on the street.
If the tuner guys want to build a modified vehicle, have them take the plates off it and take it to the track? There a no purpose for a modified street vehicle other than to break the law or do something dangerous & stupid.
King of the Hill competitions are OK (actually I find them boring) as long as they are for fun & bragging rights. When they start offerring cash prises, they are encouraging people to take chances.
The government is suggesting in the proposed Bill 203 that if you are building a car for racing, they can come on your private property with no warrant or legal process and seize it. The same with any "high performance parts". You do not have to be charged or convicted of anything, if a police officer believes that you have a vehicle being built for racing (whether it is on the road or a non street legal vehicle) the government will have the power (if the bill is passed) to come on your private property and seize your property and you have no recourse whatsoever to dispute it.
That is what I have a big problem with. That sounds like something from the USSR. Do I trust government officials and the police not to seize my property even though I don't street race, but I race on a closed course track? I don't and you shouldn't either.
This is giving the government far too much power and it won't stop there... Any Ontario resident should be furious over this, not just car enthusiasts.
Please quote where in bill 203 it states this as I couldn't find it anywhere in there.
