Should race tracks eliminate king of the Hill due to lack of cages for safety ?

This post is about a crash at a local speedway's King of the Hill event August 25, 2007 . The car impacted the cement wall so hard that the wall cracked from top to bottom and the car was written off completely . The drivers wrist was obviously broken as it hung down from his arm . We stood and watched beside a large blue tarp that was placed over the fence to keep us from seeing the driver . He was placed on a stretcher and his neck was also in a restraint .  Here's the question : Should regular street cars be able to race with the chance of causing severe bodily injury or even death ?  What will happen to our tracks when someone dies ?  This is my opinion and yes I do know what i'm talking about . It's called survival . I was happy to see the post by the driver's friend , that he is okay ! Thanks for letting us know ......Post your comments

this is a great post, stompin tom leaving and king of the hill crashes have nothing to do with each other. This is a bash Barrie thread that has been started by someone one there second thread. King of the hill has been going on for a long time without injury, it is only one lap and people who do it and fans love it. It is racing and things can happen but you cant base everything on one incident. So petesnova maybe before you start bashing get some credibility on this site first.

Another bash barrie thread. I won;t mention what happened at sunset a couple eyars ago....but crashes are a aprt of the sport. It is noones fault but the driver's...sad to say it, but he screwed up...its not the track or brad's fault. It is also a great way to get ppl into the sport....

It was the driver of the car that caused the crash in king of the hill, not to mention you sign a  waver form and also no matter who you are or how good of a driver you are accidents can happen. Sunset Varney and possibly other tracks also run King of the Hill so give it a rest. Its unfortunate that the driver of that car got hurt but he was doing the driving. As for Tom leaving the track his choice the wrest of us seem to stick it out OK and I remember him winning a championship here not long ago, couldn't have been too bad that year huh? Barrie has its flaws as does every track on the planet. Sunset isn't perfect either.
