SS / Thunder needs a facelift.

Next Gen cars are what people can relate too. There are some great throwbacks (look at the beautiful Richard Petty replica that was built this summer).

NASCAR is at a cross-roads, cars that all look alike is a debate that many consider have 'ruined' the sport.

Late Model has followed, as have Super Late Model.

Having a template body style can be a good thing, low cost - interchangeable parts, etc.

One of the reasons many think SS is a fun division is the diversity of the cars. What's creeping into the sport :
"How many Monte Carlo's" do you want on a race track ? Monte Carlo's aren't even in production anymore, let alone old Camaro's.

Fiberglass vs. Sheetmetal. I don't think it's a question of which one is cheaper, it's a question of how much time is required either fix, repair AND replace each component. From a safety point of view, each has it's own drawbacks and advantages.

Chassis - what's stock? As has already been pointed out, this a beaten horse. A set of rules for all classes of racing are always going to evolve. Just how many factory frames does everyone think are left for 'cheap' to build an SS?

Johnson Chassis http://www.johnsonchassis.com/GM_-METRIC_PROJECT.html - actually makes "new" factory chassis because the rules refuse to change with the times.

I would suggest that 'some' race tracks have an SS / Thunder series that already border LLM rules and race car configurations.

The only analysis that really counts is what fans want to watch from the stands. Without them, we don't race, regardless of costs. My personal opinion is that we need to get with the times, (not just SS / Thunder, but LLM and LM) and build and race cars that are driven today, not 20, 25 or 30+ years ago. I think re-igniting the 'entertainment value' in racing, is by pitching modern Ford's, GM and MOPAR's designs is the way we need to go. This has all been said in various threads in some form or fashion. Mustang's, Camaro's and Challenger's would be a lot of fun to watch.

Frankly I love the look of the new Camero. I don't see any reason that it can't be run in any of the current SS or Thunder classes. The fact that they mount over the current SS/Thunder Car chassis is the important part to note. What's the difference between the 2010 Fiberglass body and a Five Stare 1988 Monte Carlo body other than the material they are made of. I don't think the tracks are gonna say you have to run the 2010 Mustang, Camero, Challenger body, just here is another option boys.
I think it's gonna be a wash on what is easier to repair, it's all gonna depend on the damage you sub-stain. Looking forward to the new Challenger, It's gonna be sweet.

REGARDING THE VIPER THAT SHOWS UP EVERY KING OF THE HILL,  SO WHAT, AS SO DO A LOT OF OTHER DRIVERS.  I HOPE THE DRIVER IS OKAY AND AS THE ANNOUNCER SAID, THAT THERE ARE DONATIONS GIVEN TO THAT DRIVER OF THE VIPER.  I GUESS THE CORVETTE THAT TOOK HIM OUT IS A VERY POOR SPORT, AND HOPE HE GETS WHATS COMING TO HIM.  AS PROVEN ON TAPE, IT CLEARLY SHOWS THE CORVETTE DRIVER PURPOSELY RAN INTO HIM, NOT A SECOND GUESS
