<Cross posted to GRR Online, as these reports will be for the rest of the season>
Our participation saw Jay Doerr on the 43, Jesse Kennedy in the 10x, Tyler Brown in the 91, Jon Urlin in the 4, Jamie Ramsay in the 48, and Cole Pearn in the 6.
Heat 1 saw Ramsay come home in 2nd behind 52-Lyons after starting 4th.
Heat 2 saw Kennedy up to 3rd before getting passed by Tyler Bown. finishing order was 56-Stewart, 37-Elliott, and 41-Adams. (Brown was 4th)
Heat 3 saw Pearn start outside 2nd row, and was hot in 2nd at the end of the first lap. A close call when 29-Bladek goes around in 1-2 and almost gets clobbered by Urlin...but Urlin got on the binders and managed to stop before they hit. At the halfway point, Pearn gets around 84-Jackson to take the lead. Finish is Pearn, Jackson and Urlin
Heat 4 (two rounds of heats) Had Doerr on the pole, but is quickly passed by 8-Howse. Ramsay's running 3rd. Doerr gives Howse a good run for the money, but can't get around, and then Ramsay manages to loop around in 1-2 to bring out the caution. Lyons up into third but cant catch the leaders. Finish is Howse, Doerr, Lyons.
Heat 5 has Kennedy starting outside 2nd row, but just can't make it work well. Finish is 56-Stewart, 99-Bentley, and 37-Elliott.
Heat 6 had 82-Shaw starting on the pole and staying there, followed by 95-Simone and 4-Urlin. Urlin has a good battle with Simone but can't get around, especially with Pearn right on his bumper. Finish is Shaw, Simone, Urlin and Pearn.
100 Lap WWS feature - 24 car field
Lyons on the pole, followed by Howse, Stewart, Pearn, and 37-Elliott. Doerr starts 7th, Ramsay 10th, Brown 15th, Kennedy in 20th and Urlin at the back. If I was getting it right, Urlin was supposed to start somewhere around 5th to 7th, but ran into car trouble during the parade laps, stopping repeatedly in turn 2...so he ended up starting at the back.
Howse takes the early lead from Lyons, with Pearn running third. After only a couple laps, Brown and 42-Holmes are in the infield, Brown with car trouble and has to sit and rot in the infield. (that's Flamboro!)
The order stays the same on the restart, except Howse sandbags the green flag, which results in cars getting stacked up in turn 1-2. Doerr goes around and Urlin's caught up in it too. Urlin takes damage and is out. (With Jr Hanley as Howse's crew chief, I believe Howse may have got a sneak peek into the Hanley/Biederman handbook of shifty racing maneuvers.)
The next bunch of laps is a blur of caution flags. Kennedy's kind of all over the place, at one point getting into it verbally with the 10 car of Shane Gowan, and at another point gets loose and takes out himself and Doerr.
Up at the front the order is still Howse, Lyons and Pearn...these three are the class of the field tonight and keep running away. Ramsay's up in the top 10 and does pretty well battling with 37-Elliott, and Shaw.
By lap 70, Howse, Lyons, Pearn are still 1-2-3 and Ramsay is having a side by side battle with Shaw for 4th, than another cauton and Simone puts 42-Holmes into the wall in turn 2. As an added sideshow, Holmes gets into a shouting match with a Simone crewman through the fence right in front of the pit grandstands. (Apparently Simone is under suspension for other such hijinks, but was allowed to run tonight because it was a special. All I can say is too bad there was a fence there!)
Anyway, the last laps are pretty much caution free, and highlighted by a great battle between Shaw and David Elliott for 4th spot.
In the end, its Howse, Lyons, Pearn, Shaw and Elliott, with Ramsay somewhere in the bottom of the top 10. (I think he was 6th, but don't hold me to it.) Brealong news: Kennedy was 9th as well.
Not a bad show, though a few too many cautions for my liking...but Flam always seems to be like that for the big races.
Thundercars were excellent too as they always are. 72-Rusnell won again and did a fence climb. 2nd was 4-McLlroy, 3rd to 31-Gallant and 4th to 13-Collison. I believe my fave thunder, Rapid Roy Robinson came in 5th (again don't hold me to that though) Gotta love a guy that does well in a butt ugly, beat up race car!
Thats it from here. If you get a chance to check out the races at Flamboro, do it. Always a good show there.
Oh, and a shout out to Jay Doerr. Nice to finally meet the man behind the racer43 nick!
Shadow out
thanks for the update. I was honestly too tired to go after a tough day at work. How was the crowd? The advertising for this show seemed non existant in the Hamilton area. Casale never advertises in the Hamilton Spectator and seems to rely on radio ads on one or two stations in an overly saturated market. (ps-I see they reverted to the multiple heat bit again, rather than 3 heats and a consi)

Crowd seemed OK. Not bad, not great...just OK.
2 sets of heats seemed like a little bit of overkill. But what the hey, still beats the tar out of time trials only.
Yoiks. I didn't realize Kennedy had finished that well. Will edit.
What I was amused by was how Jonathan Urlin who had been caught up in a wreck (this was after being forced to start last instead of in the top 6 when he apparently was late for the feature line-up) was allowed to climb up the starter's stand from the grandstand side no less and verbally berate the starter as he waved the green flag for a restart.
Where was the track security? I wonder if Urlin will be allowed back at Flamboro. At least Urlin could have thrown all the flags onto the track ala Don Biederman to spice things up. LOL.
As a side note, later in the race during a caution period a young boy was wandering along the banking between the fence and the front stretch wall before he finally got down at the starter's stand gate ; I don't know how he got trackside in that position!
