Ramsay Runs Down Lindsay – Another Top-Five for CANUSA Motorsports Team
(Dorchester, ON) –The CANUSA Motorsports Team was back in action Friday, July 16th for NACAR Late Model action at Delaware Speedway. Driver Jamie Ramsay and his APC / Total Lubricants / CANUSA Chevrolet Impala entered the night running third in the championship standings, and trying to close ground on Ron Sheridan and Scott Lindsay.
The night started with practice, and Ramsay was fast right off the trailer, but the crew wasn`t content with the car and continued to work on the handling of their Chevy throughout the session.
Jamie rolled for his 10-lap qualifier, and was in a fierce battle for third behind Rick Emery, while the leader was pulling away. With one car going around the outside of the Every, Jamie dove to the bottom of the track and tried to find a way past on the bottom. Ramsay touched wheels with Rick and shot over the hood of Emery’s car in spectacular fashion. Jamie, who has been tutoring young Demar Aggregate Truck division driver Shae Gemmell admitted he made a mistake. “I try to teach Shae how to have patience, and then I didn’t have enough.”
Jamie restarted at the back of the pack on the next restart, and blasted through traffic, to a sixth-place finish.
The night closed out with a 35-lap main event, and Ramsay took the green from 12th-position. He jumped into line behind Sheridan, the point leader, and started picking off cars before losing sight of the bumper of the #52 in traffic. “Ron got by Shawn Thompson, and I couldn’t fill the hole quick enough.”
Jamie would finally get by Thompson for fifth, but it took him until lap 15. He would continue forward, putting a move on Gord Shepherd for fourth on lap 22, but needed to see a yellow flag. Ramsay reeled in third-place Scott Lindsay late in the event, but ran out of time, as the race ran the entire distance with no yellow flags, and the CANUSA Motorsports settled for a fourth-place result. “I used up a lot of car to get to Scott, and didn’t have the time, or the car to pass him. It was a good night, but unfortunately both of the drivers that we’re chasing for a championship finished in front of me.”
John Urlin won his first feature of the year, passing Scott Lindsay for the lead and holding off Ron Sheridan to take the victory.
1. Urlin, 2. Sheridan, 3. Lindsay, 4. Jamie Ramsay, 5. Thompson.
CANUSA Motorsports will be back in action this Friday night, July 23rd for a pair of feature events on the second of three Triple Crown nights at Delaware this season. The team will enter the night third in points, 77 markers behind Sheridan.
