Racing On as Scheduled: Rain or Shine!

Delaware Speedway’s 2013 Pumpkin Smasher season finale is on as scheduled for today (Oct. 19, 2013) at 1:00 pm - - rain or shine!

Although Mother Nature may try her best to put a dampener on the season finale event it is no secret that rain events at Delaware Speedway produce exciting competition as drivers work to overcome the reduced traction of a wet race track.

Spectators are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring umbrellas.  A rain event can be a comfortable viewing experience if preparations are made.  With this being the third year of the event, serious Pumpkin Smasher fans are already familiar with these preparations: every Pumpkin Smasher event ever run at the track has been affected by weather but has always delivered as a fun finale to the season.

The Pumpkin Smasher afternoon features fun for everyone with a variety of stock-car racing events as well as a Demolition Derby to finish up the day.  In addition, the afternoon also features special programs including the “A Can is a Coupon” food drive, the smashing of the pumpkins for Jesse’s Journey, and the final High School Challenge of the season.

Spectator gates open at noon, racing starts at 1:00 pm.  Fans are again reminded to bring a canned food donation for the food bank to receive discounted gate admission.
