Who enjoys watching racing?
Watching 2 cars run side by side lap after lap trying to keep a head of the other, trying to make the pass, or one car working lap after lap to set the car ahead of him up to make the pass.
Yes rubbing is racing and getting in a wreck is part of racing, but who goes for the wrecks.
The competators spend hours and hours getting the cars looking top notch and more time on getting them to handle better week after week.
I know if you ask any of them getting in a wreck sucks.
Now valuable time needs to be spent to get the car in shape to race, none the less the cost of repairs.
I'm just asking because everytime I see a Delaware Video be it on UTube, TV or season finally video it's 95% people wrecking.
It just discusses me that this is the image we want to show the world about Delaware racing.
Come on out to Delaware Speedway and watch people wreck and waste money cause the racing sucks.
That's my 2 cents.
So the crashes aren't supposed to be on highlight reels now?
Isn't that what highlight reel... Is? ???
I used to come out to Enduros just to see wrecks. If I wanted to see racing I'd come out on a friday and watch the Pros do it
Ill go along with DB1 to a point. I'd rather see a good race than a big wreck.
However, to the unwashed masses, wrecking is a big part of the thrill, and our kind of racing was founded on its thrill show type atmosphere. (which we're in danger of losing - and thats why getting fans out is harder now) That's just the deal. You think we pack them in on King of the Hill nights because fans are hoping someone won't crash?
Frankly, (and this will probably make you think better of Delaware staff) I've been telling John for years that if he really wanted to promote at the car shows, they'd ditch the pace truck and the squeaky clean race cars, and instead just have one car sitting there that had been involved in a 360 barrel roll into the turn 1 wall...complete with fire extinguisher residue.
That'd sell tickets.
But wait a second, I recall seeing, at one time, an amzing race featured on YouTube between Duane Manning and Jeremy Ouelette.
My guess is that its not that complicated - Â if its exciting, it goes in. Â
Chicken or egg eh!? Of course we all, as die hard race fans, love to see pure racing. We have had these discussions on here many times before. To the unintiated though you get them through the gates with the highlighted wrecks and the excitement that goes with it and then turn them into race fans. I have said here before that it is not the wrecks we go to see but the possibility of wrecks happening as a result of the previously mentioned racing. You don't have to have good PR for those of us on here to go see a race but if you want to get the extra bums in the seats you have to give em a little taste of what they THINK they want. Beside it is not the fan that crashes the cars is it!
