Just wondering something, in the name of keeping the boards uncluttered.

Do you think I should keep the weekly reports in one thread? I notice SS3 uses the same thread for weekly Freeps reports and am wondering if I should do the same.

It seems like a good idea, but I also notice that, as of late, not much else is going on here...everyone seems pretty quiet. So maybe its no big deal just to keep doing it the same way.

And lastly, as some of you know, I just can't get as in depth as I did last year, with blow by blow accounts of the heats and everything. The whole idea behind the weekly report was to give a casual, converstional, fan's eye view of the action on Friday night, and I fear I'm somewhat limited in what I can do these days. I was hoping to be able to report just the features....but events have transpired that may not let me even do that very well.

Delaware, thus far, has been doing a good job of getting those results up fairly quick...so I'm wondering if maybe the Shadow Report has seen its day.

And BTW, I'm not going anywhere. Just wondering if rushing home after the races to write is even necessary. Often John Houghton's reports are already up at delaware.com by the time I'm done my report and hitting the submit button. I just want to avoid redundancy and message board clutter.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Separate threads within the Delaware board for each race are the only way to go.  The Free Press thread was for a totally different cause.  Weekly race reports should be in separate weekly threads.

The Shadow Report is doing just fine - - sure it’s not as detailed as in 2006, but that’s just how things go when things change.  The shadow report is only over when you have absolutely nothing to add.  I haven’t really been doing my part to help out either this year with not posting pictures.  The winning format for the report near the end of last year was this:

A: The Unofficial “Shadow Report”
B: Other fan/driver perspectives and thoughts
C: Photos posted from other fans and I later in the week, then looking on to the next event.

As for delawarespeedway.com reports - - they aren’t really reports, but press releases.  They give the nuts and bolts break down of the events that went on.  They are designed to give media and fans a jumping off point for the next week’s action.  The new database system appears to be kicking in over there and is widely expected to increase the speed of results hitting the Internet even more.

But is it all about results?

The Shadow Report by contrast, appears to be designed to stimulate conversation on the boards.  The Delaware Speedway message board on here is the most active section.  The key success of the Shadow report in the past in my opinion was its ability to deliver an “unofficial” no-holds-barred account of the nights events from a fans perspective and gave an idea of how the show went – good, bad and ugly.  There is no “rule” that you have to have the report up the same night of an event (or even at all).

I still think there is value in the Shadow Report.

Hey Shadow, those reports, even in shortened form are greatly appreciated. Its another opinion or the same as what I just witnessed that night. If a couple more would do the same, say from the pit area to kind of fill in about incidents or why so&so wasn't up to speed....or rumors.....nothing better than rumors.
Everything you have done has been positive, so keep it up if you can.

Guys I told you, Its not a matter of me quitting...I'm not going anywhere.

Just wondering how best to help the community at large and keep it within my limitations!
