But if that was the case the 77 would have been the winner as he was ahead of the 99 the lap before.
Its not the place for it.
Respectfully Shadow, as I am a fan of your work and support of the speedway, I disagree. An online message board dedicated specifically to Delaware IS the place to discuss this kind of stuff. I haven't seen any personal attacks or rampant hostility.
I liked this place a lot more before the censorship got out of hand. The entire Western culture has just gotten so sensitive. Can't say anything anymore without someone trying to muffle it, kids growing up in protective bubbles, geeze. This board is below a G level compared to any other board I'm part of.
Disagreement with officials is part of sports. Arguing over penalty calls in hockey or football. Pitching a fit over a called strike 3 in baseball. Voicing displeasure with the finishing order of a race. It's OK!
But if that was the case the 77 would have been the winner as he was ahead of the 99 the lap before.
Touche!
See, the key is to accept that there is no apparent reasoning behind the majority of the decisions.

Actually, I heard if that was the logic, then Jimmy Mairs won the race.
last night was a bit puzzling on a number of issues. Why not run the 142 between the other two features? This way if you run out of time the SS could run a double next week. Chopping their race and the 142 just seems wrong. The LM's got three features in, a 40 lapper a 25 lapper? and a 42 lapper. Personally I cant stand these double and triple races all in one run. If you have any trouble in the first or second you are screwed for points. However I guess its the same for everyone. On lap 62 I think it was, the officiall goes down the row of spotters and tells us all the break is coming on lap 75. It wasnt two laps after telling my driver this that we had yet another yellow and then yet another. What do they expect these guys to do when you tell them the race is getting cut in half, better yet 12 laps from now. Hammer down is what.! I wish I had the answers on how to fix this curfue issue we keep coming up against this year. It seems if its not the weather man its the timed race thing. Boo.
Agreed, the night's lineup was a little ambitious. I actually think one other support division would have been fine. But hey...we got lots of racing!
If it was me, I'd do
1 Time trials
3 [flogging dead horse]LM heats[/flogging dead horse]
4 Some kind of support feature...lineup based on points. Or some other kind of exhibition.
5 The big race
Thats a full night's racing right there.
As far as splitting the races up...it's not ideal, but you do what you have to. It's been a wierd year. I do not envy the guys making those decisions. On one hand, yes it certainly changes the fabric and the rythm of those bigger races, and not necessarily for the better. (just ask Gery Elliott after last night.) On the other hand, do you want to be the guy standing in a tech garage full of 500 lb gorillas, and telling them "so sorry, no NASCAR money cuz we procrastinated and didn't get enough races in?"
My only fear is that the caution/yellow thing might become too easy as a quick fix the more they do it. Twin, or even triple, races are far better IMO than breaking up bigger races the way they have. Have something between, do an inversion of the lead lap cars...that's entertainment!
We need to get 18 races in for the LMs. By my calculation we only have 7 in, and its July now. There's only 5 normal race nights left for LM and we need 11 more races...and I seriously hope the APC 300 is devoid of any of this caution/checker stuff. Â I think we'll be doing twins for the rest of the season for LMs.
Come to think of it, I just realized that we're also getting bit by always having one division off duty on a Friday. The LMs need make up races.
