Running weekly, or biweekly bonestock would be awesome. However it gets expensive fast when cars don't seem to last very long. I think it would be a good option to have the choice of leaving your car on the track. Basically if your in a big crash, you know your car is done, you can say screw it and leave it on the track.

This however, misses some key history: the Enduro declined and escalated in cost rapidly once cars were being removed from the race track.  Once drivers knew that their cars would not be left on the speedway they were able to spend to their hearts content on things that were unheard of when they didn't know if their car would make it through the next event.  The Bone Stock Chaos Cars aims to duplicate the success of the Enduro in the 1990s, leaving cars on the track is part of that.

In short: it serves as the number one deterrent to excessive spending.  It's a strong measure, but its effectiveness cannot be denied.  There are a number of Bone Stock teams that could outspend the division and escalate it in a major way but have not done so: they have told me it is because they know they could lose the car.

As for the castor and camber: again, an escalation.  A free one, but still an escalation which would result in increased speeds on the track.  The goal of the Bone Stock Chaos Cars is to see a team enter competition and have the same shot (mechanically) as someone who has been racing for years.  The vehicles on the track should be in the same trim they would be running in on the street: except now with extra safety equipment.

The two adjustments suggested (opening up setup, removing cars from the track) would simply cause us to lose the entry level class and repeat history again.  There is a reason the Bone Stocks are growing so rapidly.

This video should be mandatory viewing for everyone involved.
If you watch this, you will know exactally what the track's direction is on this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=854G1TsxaNk#ws ]Delaware Speedway Pumpkin Smasher Bone Stock 75[/url]

I agree with your response. The leave your car on the track does give you fear about spending money on your car and losing it on the track. I guess I was just on the wrong side of this rule, but I can definitely see its effect.

I wish we could get that many cars on the track, it would make for an awesome race. I'm just trying to come up with some ideas as to how we can get more cars out there. I know I built my car and it was written off on my 3rd race. I was very close to not coming back again, if it wasnt for my dad buying me a new car to make it back out.

Hey John, not to pee on your parade,  but... drop the Chaos tag to the Bone Stock. It's been upsized from the original deal. Sorry pal, it's time to let it go.

Hate to argue with my distinguished message board colleagues...but I have to. Absolutely do NOT EVER lose the Chaos Car tag.

I know that to a few folks, the term Chaos Car represents half baked (to some) obstacle course racing, with cars that bore oddball names instead of numbers. But most of those folks are already involved in the racing community. For them, really, it doesn't much matter what we call them - everyone knows we're talking about our home division of cheap 4-6 cyl cars with absolutely nothing done to them.

But you look at it from the other side of the coin. Watch the races. See what the fans see. Which title represents the show better?

Bone Stocks? To the casual fan - that doesn't tell him anything. And the english is wonky on it. (sorry, pet peeve)

Chaos Cars? Well at least that sounds like a show that might be worth buying a ticket to. And I've seen a few races now to know that this division is VERY entertaining. Chaos Cars is very suitable title for them. And more importantly, its accurate.

Try and tell me tonight's race was not "chaotic". ;D

In all seriousness though, the name plays well with the target audience for the series.  Bone Stocks makes sense to us (in the racing community), but "Chaos Cars" makes more sense to someone who is not into racing.  I can't even count the number of times casual fans call in and ask what a "Chaos Car" is because it sounds like something they want to bring their kids to.  It does grab attention, it would be a shame to lose that.

...Also, it allows Jamie Maudsley to yell "ARE YOU READY FOR SOME CHAOS?!!" before every event, which seems to get the crowd jacked.

Beyond marketing: Chaos Car add-on in the name ensures that competitors do not take themselves too seriously.  If you're in a series called "Chaos Cars" and you come to us asking why no setup is allowed in the cars, why drivers a certain speed have to start at the back, why cars are left on the track, or why some of the cars have lights underneath them - - the answer is self-evident in the name of the division.  The biggest fight that the Bone Stocks will see over the next few seasons will be to resist escalation in terms of cost and format adjustment (which are directly connected, as discussed above).  The name makes extremely clear what the speedway is trying to put on.
