On a side note(John) will it be standard that the top 3 cars in points start at the back or the top 3 from the previous race. Just curious
It's not always a guarantee. Sometimes it could be more than three. The previous event it was any driver who drove faster than a 25.5 second lap - - we judge those drivers to be looking for an additional challenge: starting at the back provides it at the moment.
There were people that followed Enduo only for years, and that is still true today. Many have left the class as fans, because it's now boasting a newer style of racing. As a racer, it's hard to keep attention span that long, and be competitive. Bone Stock is/has grabbed some of those fans back. I'm sure it will do so in the future. Like I said earlier in this post, Mini-Stocks seem the most cost effective style for Friday nights. It helps fill stands elsewhere, and gets new faces to the pits. Most guys who the ambition to race, need to be at the track. How else are they going to see the other classes run? It may give them the nod to move up, just by watching.
Just check the results from every other track that has bomber/mini classes, and notice there's more of them, than any other class. Demographically, not everyone makes 50K a year. Even that yearly amount with a child or two, is peanuts anymore. So, having a class that people can run in cheaply, helps. Remember, there's more people making less than that on average racing, than above it. Cater to your people.
not sure bout weekly Bone stock events, but Friday night every now and then could work. Would the bone stock teams get impatient / grumpy waiting till the last event of the night to run tho? If not, why not? More back gate $$$ and more butts up top to support their fav Bone stock drivers....
The Bone Stocks do have a Friday show upcoming (July 5). Waiting until the end of the night should not prove to be a major issue, the events start at 7:30 pm and have been wrapping up in good time as designed.
The series is not conducive to running weekly: too hard on budgets for entry-level and becomes too time consuming for entry-level teams. Teams that have the ability and crave a higher level of competition and wish to run weekly should move up at that point (also as designed). The goal is to keep the series largely as is and encourage competitors to move up as they look for additional challenges, rather than adjusting the current series to fit their needs and excluding potential newcomers.
The rules are similar to ChumpCar with the exception that the entry fees are not subsidized at all. From what I understand ChumpCar is a $500 entry per event. Granted, you get more time in the car than we currently offer, but the rates are a lot steeper.

Running weekly, or biweekly bonestock would be awesome. However it gets expensive fast when cars don't seem to last very long. I think it would be a good option to have the choice of leaving your car on the track. Basically if your in a big crash, you know your car is done, you can say screw it and leave it on the track. In my case I had a fairly minor engine problem on a restart and got smoked on the straight. Went from small fix to whole new car. If we had a little more protection over our cars we could run them more often, say... biweekly.
You mentioned moving up in series, but there is not much options for anything close in price. I'm not a big fan of enduro B because it gets lost running with Enduro A. Enduro A option is very expensive. We could smash together enduro B and bone stocks and set a time restraint. Say 24.00 sec laps. If you run more then 5 laps under 24.0 in a race you will be dq'd. Leave suspension modifications open. So we can buy cheaper cars and throw some camber/shims on it and compete with the v8s. Also running camber on these cars would save huge on tires. I dont know about you other bone stock guys but my right front tire is destroyed almost every race. Its not expensive to allow adjustments like this.We would end up with many cars running very similar laps times in very cheap cars. It would be exactly what the crowd wants

I agree 100% it cost no money to caster/camber our front tires, but it sure would help the front tire issue. We run the enduro also and have no time to kick our tires over for enduro, kick back for bonestock and than kick back for enduro feature

This however, misses some key history: the Enduro declined and escalated in cost rapidly once cars were being removed from the race track. Once drivers knew that their cars would not be left on the speedway they were able to spend to their hearts content on things that were unheard of when they didn't know if their car would make it through the next event. The Bone Stock Chaos Cars aims to duplicate the success of the Enduro in the 1990s, leaving cars on the track is part of that.
In short: it serves as the number one deterrent to excessive spending. It's a strong measure, but its effectiveness cannot be denied. There are a number of Bone Stock teams that could outspend the division and escalate it in a major way but have not done so: they have told me it is because they know they could lose the car.
As for the castor and camber: again, an escalation. A free one, but still an escalation which would result in increased speeds on the track. The goal of the Bone Stock Chaos Cars is to see a team enter competition and have the same shot (mechanically) as someone who has been racing for years. The vehicles on the track should be in the same trim they would be running in on the street: except now with extra safety equipment.
The two adjustments suggested (opening up setup, removing cars from the track) would simply cause us to lose the entry level class and repeat history again. There is a reason the Bone Stocks are growing so rapidly.
This video should be mandatory viewing for everyone involved. If you watch this, you will know exactally what the track's direction is on this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=854G1TsxaNk#ws ]Delaware Speedway Pumpkin Smasher Bone Stock 75[/url]
