I see so some racers really don't have a chance as you have to be able to race at different tracks and not just your home track.

Ron is doing great as he is in 11th and all others have more starts then him that are in the top 10.

I think Robblee got 5th overall last year and wasn't that far from first.

Just incase anyone was interested, the other classes are also ranked nationally against other drivers.  If you go to the NASCAR Hometrack website, then follow the link for Whelen All American Series Finalist Program: Asphalt...to make it easier http://hometracks.nascar.com/node/4649     Division II is our Super Stocks and Division III is our Trucks.  The top 100 drivers are listed...pretty interesting how we stand up!

As of August 23:  Super Stocks - Steve Smith 52nd, Kris Lawrence 55th, Jason Lidster 64th, Stephen Richmond 76th, Darrell Lake 88th
Trucks - Paul Fothergill 17th, Gary Adriaensen 30th, Shawn Johns 44th, Michelle Koricina 46th, Jeff Showler 51st, Jordan Dupuis 58th,
                                    Steve McCaw 88th

The list is usually updated every Thurs.  I think its kinda cool that our other divisions are getting more recognition on a national level instead of just the Late Models

Coles notes for the point system. Points depend on car count and finishing order. Best 18 races up til Sept 19th count toward the championship. Rocket Ronnie will likely win the Ontario Championship (although others are still fighting so he won't) and be eligible to go to Charlotte and then the Toyota showdown.

I believe you must be in the top 5 for a guaranteed start in the Showdown. He should be running some races at Barrie. They will allow his car with a handicap.

The one problem with the Whelan Series in my opinion, is how they mix some classes into the same point totals to crown Provincial / State / National Champions. But other series qualifiers are not.

As far as being invited to the Toyota Showdown and Charlotte race, that's where I get a little disappointed. Because in some ways the deck is already stacked....

All race winners during both Camping World Series regional tours, in addition to the Series Champions of both Camping World Series, both Whelen Modified Tours, Canadian Tire Series, and Mexico Series, and the top five in the Whelen All-American Series National Standings (all must be state champions - new for the 2009 season; in previous years, it was only the National Champion), will be awarded exemptions to advance to the feature.

Qualifying, provisionals for Camping World Series regulars based on the 2009 results, and top drivers in the qualifying race will determine the starting order.

Anyone else agree that the State / National Champion Top 5 needs to be broken out into their respective classes , so that those that run Late Model Top 5 get to go? Or is this already taken into account? Somehow I'm under the impression that it is not a consideration
