Aside from lower safety specs, what (in your opinion) allowed that series to grow to that size?  This board has discussed at length potential reasons why the series is not currently at that big, but I am more interested in hearing how this series was built up and grown to that size as surely it was not that big on day one.

- John Houghton

No it wasn't that big on day one but once the word got out day two was pretty much like that. Remeber also there was only 2 to 4 of these races a year. It wasn't a division running for points. Each race was basically a one off deal. It wasn't the same 100 guys running each race. New guys came in and most only ran one or two races.

My Dad (Hal Hein) often tells me stories about how that first enduro came together in a short amount of time, and the fun they had winning that first race. A lot of ppl just don't want to take the time or have the resourses to build a car now.
