That also helps explain where all the race-able big cars went that no one can find anymore!  😉

I'm just jealous of the car count! That kinda race, in my opinion, just about EVERYBODY wants to be in...especially in the enduro class! whoohooo!

I bet it was a blast to be in those super packs of cars goin around Delaware...we never had anything like that on the west coast, not even close. I'd hate to be a scorer!! gawd!

I remember a couple of those packed fields back in the 80's. First was looking at the bumper of last at the start. No yellows, no reds, if your car quit 20 laps in then I hope you packed a lunch LOL! There were no 24 second laps there. Although if I recall correctly there was a big old Chrysler or maybe it was a Caddy that would spank the field when the cars got thinned out a bit. I think the motor got claimed after one race. Probably only a little more than 1/2 the field finished those races. An all day marathon that was a hoot to watch. Remember also they used manual scoring. You had to have two scorers and they all sat in the granstand behind the flag tower. One scorer was for your car and the other scorer was randomly assigned to another car. That was the backup plan 😉 As you can imagine there were some scoring disputes at times. Sunset was the same way back then although it being 1/3 mile not as many cars but same idea.
